About us
Professor Jeffrey Sachs launched SDGs Today, an initiative of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), at the High Level Political Forum in 2020 with support from Esri and the National Geographic Society. SDGs Today aims to advance the production and use of timely and geospatial data for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program offers training resources to support governments, academics and youth to produce, share and engage with the innovative data and GIS to help ensure that we meet the global goals by 2030. 🛰️ We went on an incredible virtual journey with Lóránt Czárán (member of our Coalition of Experts!), showcasing the transformative power of open and timely data in disaster response, CO2 emissions tracking, and deforestation mitigation. The #opendata from NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration displayed in the stunning planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History was spectacular! 🌌 This official side event of the Summit of the Future highlighted the urgent need for accessible satellite imagery and tools to empower all communities in their pursuit of the #SDGs, emphasizing the importance of country ownership of data and the necessity for real-time decision-making tools. A special thank you to United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and UN Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER) for fostering a space that champions inclusive and informed use of #Earthobservations for a sustainable future for people and our planet! ✨ Jeffrey Sachs Fekitamoeloa Utoikamanu Aarti Holla-Maini Maryam Rabiee Priscilla Idele Charles Brigham Sustainable Development Solutions Network
