About us
The Physical Internet Initiative aims at facilitating the way physical objects are moved, stored, realized, supplied and used among and across supply chains, making collaboration and sharing possible at marginal cost while pursuing global logistics efficiency and sustainability. The Physical Internet strives to make the movement and management of goods as seamless and interconnected as the flow of data and services on the digital internet. It seeks to significantly streamline and consolidate the movement of goods, both on a global scale and in last mile logistics. The 10th International Physical Internet Conference (IPIC 2024) will take place May 29-31 in Savannah, GA USA under the theme "Empowering Resilient and Sustainable Supply Chain Ecosystems". Physical Internet principles and developments contribute to: - Supporting freight transport and logistics decarbonization in an affordable way by bringing further efficiency to logistics and enabling collaboration and sharing at marginal set up costs, facilitating investments in zero emission technologies and energies. - Providing further resilience to global and regional supply chains through the implementation of synchromodal strategies and interconnected logistics multimodal networks. - Supporting the development of the circular economy by better addressing reverse logistics and close loop circular networks. - Addressing urban logistics challenges, e-commerce, and retail distribution in cities thanks to open interconnected logistics and distribution networks. IPIC conferences provide an open forum for researchers, industry representatives, government officials and citizens to together explore, discuss, introduce leading edge concepts, methodologies, recent projects, technological advancements, start-up initiatives, for current and future Physical Internet implementation.
