  • 2024 People First Cornhole Event in Atlanta Does it Again! Thousands Raised for Homelessness Initiatives The 2024 People First Charitable Foundation Committee hosted the 2024 Brews & Boards event on Thursday, April 25 from 2 – 5 pm at Gate City Brewing in Roswell, GA. More than 300 colleagues and business partners came together to relax, have some fun, and enjoy a little friendly competition in the Brews & Boards Cornhole Tournament, all to raise money for a very worthy cause – addressing homelessness in Georgia. This year’s event was also a food drive on behalf of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Together, our 50 sponsors, 56 teams and 300 attendees raised over $80,000! With the matching funds from Galway, the total amount raised will be over $160,000! Congratulations to our first and second place tournament winners! Team PHLY 1 (Cody Carlson & Logan Molinaro, Philadelphia Insurance Companies) narrowly defeated HQY (Matt Irvine & Justin Brinkley, HealthEquity) and proudly accepted their trophies. Thank you to our generous sponsors and all who donated and attended, making the 2024 Brews & Boards for a Cause our most successful fundraising event to date! • EPIC Delivers Donation to the Food Bank of South Jersey -- Proceeds from People First's "Feed the Northeast" Fundraiser, Fall 2023 We are glad to announce that EPIC has delivered another check from the proceeds of our Fall 2023 "Feed the Northeast" fundraiser. This donation was made to the Food Bank of South Jersey in Pennsauken, NJ. They were kind enough to take our team on a tour of the facility and introduce them to some of their team. They saw the kitchen where they frequently hold classes and programs to teach kids different healthy cooking techniques.  The FBSJ has been serving South Jersey since 1985. FBSJ is the largest provider of emergency food assistance in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem counties. In 2023, the FBSJ distributed more than 22 million pounds of food, including more fresh produce than ever before. More than 431,000 meals were distributed to children in the area. Every month the FBSJ provides nutritious meals to 170,000 of our neighbors in need. Another way the FBSJ assists the community is by providing pop-up pantries and Hope Mobiles to food deserts in the surrounding area. It was great to hear about the amazing ways the FBSJ provides for the community. EPIC looks forward to working with them further and helping those in need! Thank you to Joe Caffrey, Kim Amelung and Antonio Toplyn for representing EPIC Brokers at the check presentation. Pictured L-R: Joe Caffrey, Lavinia Awosanya, Kim Amelung, Antonio Toplyn

  • EPIC Donates Money to the New York Common Pantry in East Harlem --Proceeds from People First's "Feed the Northeast" Fundraiser Support Community We are pleased to announce that we delivered another check from the proceeds from our Fall 2023 "Feed the Northeast" fundraiser to help battle food insecurity in our local neighborhoods to the New York Common Pantry located in East Harlem, NYC. New York Common Pantry reduces hunger and food insecurity while promoting dignity, health, and self-sufficiency. Their whole-person approach starts with food provision through the distribution of nutritious, fresh food pantry packages in their choice pantry and hearty balanced breakfast and dinner in their hot meals program. During our visit we witnessed the great work going on at their pantry. A group of 20 Bloomingdale's volunteers sat with participants to help them select their groceries from a list of proteins, dairy, grains, fruits, and vegetables via iPads. The participants then went upstairs and waited a short time while another group of volunteers in a refrigerated room packed the exact items the participants had chosen only minutes before. Additionally, we met the chef who prepares hot, nutritionally balanced meals for their guests twice a day. New York Common Pantry can serve so many people in need only with the help of their volunteers and donations. 70% of their workforce is made up of volunteers. We are planning to have a volunteer project soon where team members from the 1140 Avenue of the America’s office can join us and volunteer for the day. If you are interested in joining us, please reach out to Barbara Ross. Senior Director of Development and Communications at New York Common Pantry, Deana Murtha, shared that 70% of the food provided to the community is purchased daily from various sources and was grateful for the much-needed donation from EPIC. • People First Delivers Generous Donation to Los Angeles Food Bank We are pleased to announce that a generous donation of $15,000 has been delivered to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Fred Kipperman represented the People First Charitable Foundation committee on behalf of all the southern California volunteers who assembled the first Brews & Boards event in Orange County that took place in September of 2023. It was a big success for many reasons. The event united employees, created some fun ways to give back, and brought carrier sponsors together as well. Here is what Fred said about his experience at the Food Bank: "I was able to visit the LA Food Bank’s brand-new warehouse in the City of Industry and met with the chief development officer, Roger Castle, and the director of corporate relationships, Christina Quezada. Roger and Christina were gracious and spent about an hour with me describing the extensive challenges in LA County with food insecurity and the commendable partnerships between the LA County Food Bank and 600 other local charities to distribute food to 900,000 people every month. Their new building allows for supply chain optimization, larger storage, more efficient operations, and in turn, the ability to help more people. For example, in their first month in the new building, they were able to distribute 500,000 additional pounds of produce due to larger freezing areas. I also learned that in 2023, they distributed 95,000,000 meals. I also, sadly, became aware that 30% of LA County’s 10MM residents experience food insecurity at least once a month. I left the visit feeling proud of People First, amazed that $15,000 will result in ~60,000 meals, and hopeful, together, we can come together to find a better way to provide basic necessities to our neighbors, colleagues, and community. Thanks again for the opportunity to play a small role in last year's meaningful efforts." Let us continue to work together to make a difference and contribute to the well-being of our community. Alan Boring, Brendan Osean, Catherine Curti, Fred Kipperman, Iza Zhivago, Janine Walter, Marge Sherrard, Nabil Fakhoury, Nancy Burnett, Teddy Gillen, Tony Gerrato, Warren Ables

  • Thank you, Northeast Region!   The Northeast Region delivered in a big way for hunger! We were able to exceed our goal and raised $5,150.00 in two weeks! With the Galway match via the People First Charitable Foundation, our grand total toward hunger is $10,300!!!    A huge thank you to YOU, our Senior Leadership, Local Office Administrators, and our Fundraising Committee!    Our Inspiration This drive was inspired by a compelling story from our volunteer group in Melville. While onsite volunteering at the local food bank, the shelves were virtually empty and they were sent home early as there was nothing more to do. Now, due to your generous donations and the Galway match, we can not only donate to the Melville food bank, but also one in Boston, South Jersey and NYC!   What’s Next This is not the end of the Northeast Region fundraisers. Plans are beginning for a cornhole fundraiser in 2024 to rival those in our Southeast and West regions! If you are interested in volunteering or participating in the local Northeast committee, please email me. More info to follow next year!!   Keep Informed I encourage you to follow the People First Charitable Foundation on LinkedIn at https://lnkd.in/gWPBZgAF for updates on charitable happenings.
