Celebrating New Affordable Housing in Mott Haven! 🥂🏨 On July 15, 2024, NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development and New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) proudly opened Betances Family Apartments in the Bronx’s Mott Haven area, offering 101 deeply affordable homes. This development includes 70 units for low to moderate-income residents, 30 for previously homeless individuals, and 18 for NYCHA residents. Mayor Eric Adams, alongside local leaders and partners, celebrated this milestone, emphasizing the importance of housing access for all New Yorkers. Betances Family Apartments features essential amenities such as a children’s playroom, bike storage, an outdoor green roof terrace, and 24/7 building security. Additionally, The Bridge will provide on-site supportive services, including case management, benefits counseling, and linkages to community mental health, dental, and substance use services. This project is a testament to the power of public and private partnerships in addressing the city's housing crisis. Today we announced the closing on the financing for Sack Wern Houses, a $275 million PACT project! Today we announced NYCHA’s first financial closing on Staten Island with the $332.3 million PACT project at West Brighton! Today we announced the completion of comprehensive renovations for over 2,900 residents living in Upper Manhattan, Murray Hill, and the Upper West Side as part of the PACT program! Congratulations to our residents and our PACT partners, PACT Renaissance Collaborative (comprised of Monadnock Development, The Community Preservation Corporation, The Community Development Trust, Kalel Companies, Lemor Development Group, Community League of the Heights (CLOTH) and Cornell Pace, Inc.), on this milestone! This investment of over $380 million preserved and rehabilitated our public housing stock for residents in 1,718 apartments at 16 developments across Manhattan. It was a joy to be with the tenants of Wise Towers, where we celebrated the completed transformation of the property. There was cotton candy, popcorn, face painting, a ribbon cutting—and many happy residents enjoying the newly renovated facilities. Our deep thanks to our PRC partners, to New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), and to New York City Housing Development Corporation for helping make this happen! Today we joined our partners and other city agencies for a ribbon cutting at Casa Celina- a beautiful affordable senior building built on NYCHA's Sotomayor campus in the Bronx. The new building will provide 204 seniors with new homes, permanently affordable rent, and access to services to help them as they age. Congratulations to all of our partners on the completion of this building! This is another shining example of how we can utilize NYCHA's resources to provide our current residents with new homes, reinvest in our communities, and help solve our city's housing crisis.
