"We are living a true Renaissance of the #Eurofighter Typhoon programme," said Eurofighter CEO Giancarlo Mezzanatto. 🚀✈️ Speaking at an #aviation media briefing at the Farnborough International Airshow today, Giancarlo Mezzanatto said there was positive news on orders. He said the programme has a bright future on the back of: - Negotiating 25 aircraft for Spain's Halcon 2 - Germany announcing plans to buy 20 more by 2025 - Italy to replace 24 Tranche 1 models He said: "We are currently negotiating 25 aircraft for Spain Halcon 2, Germany has announced the will to buy 20 additional aircraft by the first half of 2025, and Italy will buy 24 aircraft to replace Tranche 1. "Last year we made the prediction of about 100-200 additional orders for Eurofighter in the two following years. I am happy to say that these predictions are confirmed." Giancarlo also confirmed that Eurofighter also has ‘realistic opportunities’ in the export market before mid-2025. #FIA2024 #FIA24 #EurofighterTyphoon

A jewel born from 70 years of company experience in the trainer sector, with models sold in total in over 2,000 units worldwide. It is the #M346, currently in production at #Leonardo. Today, we are working on the new aircraft configuration, which will incorporate new digital and artificial intelligence features, to allow the M-346 to remain a top performer in current and future operational scenarios.   Changing operational scenarios, training times, the costs of flying fifth generation #aircraft, the availability of new, more advanced cockpits: these are all variants that require an update of the entire trainer system, based on a holistic approach that maintains the correct balance between flying skills and information management, within a dynamic system such as #training. Today, #digitalization and #ArtificialIntelligence are the enablers of a further evolution that affects both the aircraft and the ground segment, and which will materialise in the new #Block20 configuration of the M-346, in the two #Fighter and #Trainer versions.   The integrated capabilities of the training system will be enhanced through upgraded state-of-the-art sensors, weapon systems, datalinks, and onboard avionics, as well as enhanced human-machine interfaces through augmented reality systems. All supported by advanced supercomputing capabilities, artificial intelligence algorithms and intrinsic cyber resilience characteristics, with substantial benefits in terms of operational availability of the fleet and integrated services. The entire training ecosystem will benefit from the update, enhancing its distinctive live/virtual/constructive capacity and confirming itself as the best "incubator" for raising the latest generation fighter pilots, capable of dealing with updated training syllabuses and threats emerging in the airspace, with or without a pilot. At Farnborough International Air Show, #Leonardo has announced the launch of a comprehensive capability enhancement package for the #M346 integrated training system including the aircraft’s core avionics, navigation/identification, mission equipment and ground training capabilities. The move reflects the training needs to align pilot’s skills to the evolution dictated by modern multi-domain battlefields, combat air technology, and information management.   This latest development leverages the inherent growth capability embedded into the M-346 design as well as ten years of proven in-service experience with leading air forces across geographies and is an integral part of the broader organisational digitization roadmap initiative, fully consistent with Leonardo’s longer-term strategy. As such, both #training and #fighter variants will benefit from these enhancements to deliver even greater capabilities to the market for a wide spectrum of applications, while implying significant margin for further developments in the future. The #M346T Block 20’ and #M346F Block 20’ are the designations for the new standard. The new #Block20 standard will not be limited to the platform itself, but rather to the entire system including the ground based training system and shall be enabled by the widespread implementation of #digitalization powered by #ArtificialIntelligence. Lorenzo Mariani, Co-General Manager of Leonardo, stated: “Training represents a core area of expertise at Leonardo and the M-346 integrated training system is the backbone of our value proposition to ensure fighter pilots are well prepared to face modern and complex air challenges, today and in the future. As we are fully involved into next generation combat air developments, this latest progress of the M-346 testifies that we’re making sure the most appropriate training solutions are thoroughly embedded in this commitment. We strongly believe the type’s constantly evolving features will continue to deliver second-to-none benefits for users in its market segment, both for training and operational / light fighter roles, making it an ideal candidate for the future of fighter training in Europe and in other geographies.”      Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dcn3v7jc   #LDOFIA2024 #FIA2024

The three nations of the Global Combat Air Programme (#GCAP) – #UK, #Italy, and #Japan – have unveiled a new concept model of their next generation combat aircraft at Farnborough International Airshow. Exhibiting at the show together for the first time, the three GCAP government partners and their lead industry partners BAE Systems (UK), #Leonardo (Italy) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (Japan) will showcase the significant strides they are making to progress the delivery of a next generation combat aircraft. The new concept model on display in Hall 5 features a much more evolved design with a wingspan larger than previous concepts to improve the aerodynamics of the future combat aircraft. Engineers from across BAE Systems, Leonardo and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries are working together under a collaboration agreement on the design and development of the future combat aircraft using a range of innovative digital tools and techniques, including computer based modelling and virtual reality to evolve the aircraft’s design during its concepting phase. The combat aircraft, set to be in service in 2035, will be one of the world’s most advanced, interoperable, adaptable and connected fighter jets in service, boasting an intelligent weapons system, a software-driven interactive cockpit, integrated sensors and a powerful next generation radar capable of providing 10,000 times more data than current systems, giving it a battle-winning advantage. Guglielmo Maviglia, Chief Global Combat Air Programme Officer, Leonardo, said: “The pace of the programme is extraordinary, building on a solid foundation and industrial legacy in each country and government-led partnership. Since the treaty was signed in December 2023, the programme has seen strong commitment from each partner. Each brings different, but complementary, qualities and requirements. We are now working closely together to exchange knowledge, address common challenges and achieve common goals. The programme is immensely important for Italy, for Leonardo, including our UK-based business, and for wider Italian industry. GCAP represents the future of combat air in a System of Systems perspective for our generations to come.”   Learn more: https://lnkd.in/d98KTdd6   #FIA2024 #LDOFIA2024

Modern operational theatres, are characterised by an increasingly marked interconnection of technologies, which orchestrate, at different levels, terrestrial, aerial, maritime, #Space and #Cyber activities, through the common thread of digitalisation and cyber-by-design protection of products, systems, and processes. #Leonardo covers the entire multi-domain value chain - platforms, enabling technologies and systems and integration capabilities - with the resulting possibility of exploiting its technological solutions in all operational domains in a synergistic manner. The combination of the #DigitalContinuum along the entire value chain, with an advanced network of space infrastructures and within a robust cyber security shield, are the enablers to decline the concept of multi-domain in the industrial sector, with solutions that "orchestrate" and "make interact" the activities of all the technologies used in the different fields, making the latter fully interconnected.
