Our new 1-meter resolution map of global tree canopy height has the potential to revolutionize restoration monitoring. The data, which can identify small saplings soon after they're planted, will ensure projects are meeting their targets, help restoration managers communicate their impact and encourage greater investment in restoration efforts across the globe. Land & Carbon Lab is convened by World Resources Institute and the Bezos Earth Fund.
About us
Land & Carbon Lab was founded by World Resources Institute (WRI) and the Bezos Earth Fund to develop breakthroughs in geospatial monitoring of the world’s land and nature-based carbon. By synthesizing troves of satellite data, we provide decision makers with actionable information and insights to restore degraded landscapes, protect forests and nature, and produce land-intensive commodities more sustainably. And we don’t just create data — we’re partnering with diverse organizations to create real world impact, from corporate leaders and policymakers to Indigenous Peoples and local communities.

Financing, training, monitoring, and learning from land restoration champions at World Resources Institute
Every year, we are making massive improvements in our quest to map every tree on the planet. John Brandt, Justine Spore, and Jessica Ertel have worked with Meta to create a new foundational #AI model available to all researchers and restoration champions. Most importantly, it will revolutionize how we detect and count saplings in the first years after they are planted. At #TerraFund, we are using this data to bring new transparency to our investments and better understand which projects are working well and why. Don't take it from me. Hear it directly from the technical team in this new video. And read more here for the details: https://lnkd.in/eWcTYPKq #AFR100 #GenerationRestoration WRI Africa
