Home and renters insurance costs have surged past inflation and outpaced the average auto insurance rate hikes during the past year, according to the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Home Insurance Study. 🔑 Key insights: - Rising costs drive increased shopping, decreased satisfaction: Among homeowners hit with an insurer-initiated rate increase, 37% are likely to shop for a new policy, with high rates being the top reason. Satisfaction among these customers drops to 863 (on a 1,000-point scale), which is 92 points lower than those who did not receive an insurer-initiate rate increase. - Bundling on the decline: Bundling home and auto policies has declined significantly in 2024 compared with 2023, but there is growing intent to switch auto insurance without switching home insurance.
