✨ In case you missed it ✨ On June 22, 2024, CAPSITE hosted a 12-mile bike tour in Washington DC to highlight several bicycle facility projects that were designed by our members. The 12-mile loop route visited several recently completed facilities in the city, such as along the 4th St SW, 15th St NW, Virginia Ave NW, 20th St NW, 9th St NW corridors and the Metropolitan Branch Trail. 🚵♂️ Along the route, volunteers from the 16 bike tour attendees provided brief explanations of project development, unique features, and design constraints for each project. The tour helped highlight the continuing effort that the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is making in implementing Active Transportation projects, and showcased some of the many safe and sustainable multimodal transportation facilities around Washington DC that our members were involved in. ✨ In case you missed it ✨ On May 15, 2024, CAPSITE hosted the 5th Annual CAPSITE/VASITE/YPT Joint Spring Meeting at Audi Field, showcasing a series of technical presentations to redefine transportation impact studies focusing on multimodal transit. 🚶♀️ 🚲 🚌 Katie Wagner, PE, PTOE and Aaron Zimmerman, PTP spearheaded discussions on the necessity for new guidelines that better integrate pedestrian, cycling, and public transportation considerations into these studies. They also shed light on the #ITE Transportation Planning Council’s initiative to gather case studies from leading areas. 👷♀️ The M Street SE Corridor Safety Project was brought into focus by Josh Wolfgram, PE, PTOE, RSP1 and Laura Medina, who elaborated on the project’s design and the execution of safety improvements for a major DC corridor. 🚗 🚨 Kate Russo and Hannah Landvater, PE, PTOE underscored the significance of automated enforcement in realizing Vision Zero targets, emphasizing automated speed enforcement’s role in maintaining safe speeds across various environments.
