Georgia was named the Best State for Business Growth. The state experienced an impressive 13.5% growth of business establishments in 2022, according to Venture Smarter report utilizing U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data. This news follows the recent announcement that Georgia broke economic development records for the third year in a row. Between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023, total investments in facility expansions and new locations totaled more than $24 billion, resulting in 38,400 new jobs through 426 projects. 4 Fungi’s Regenerative will create almost 50 new jobs and $27 million in investment in Metter, Candler County. 4 Fungi's Regenerative grew out of the Georgia Grown Innovation Center, a business incubator created in partnership with the City of Metter, Georgia Grown, and Georgia Southern University. The Georgia Grown Innovation Center is one of Georgia's unique assets that is driving innovation in communities across the state and beyond traditional metro areas. Innovation drives a sustainable economy, and with the support of organizations like the Georgia Center of Innovation, existing industries and emerging ecosystems are seeing significant growth in annual investments and job creation. The Center of Innovation has dedicated teams for key industries, including aerospace, manufacturing, energy, info tech, logistics, and AgTech. In FY23: • Georgia mobility and cleantech projects alone delivered three investments of $1 billion or more and six of the largest projects by job creation. • Georgia investments in aerospace related projects increased by more than 1,000% since FY21. • Agribusiness-related job creation grew by 29% compared to FY21.
