🌟 Reflecting on Success: Key Lessons from #FEBSETC Conference 🌟 One week after the phenomenal #FEBSETC conference, masterfully conceptualized by the FEBS Education and Training team and brilliantly organized by Ferhan Sagin and Nino Sinčić, it's time to pause and glean insights from this unique event in molecular life sciences education. The conference was not just successful because it attracted over 120 participants from nearly 30 countries, but also because it delivered what attendees sought: a deeper understanding of the imperative to transform learning and teaching, actionable ideas to contribute to this transformation, and the inspiration to take that crucial first step, knowing that peers across institutions are embarking on the same journey. In my view, #FEBSETC stands as a landmark conference for several reasons. Firstly, it boldly expanded the discourse beyond molecular life sciences education by incorporating critical pedagogy, social justice, and other pertinent fields. It also drew upon the rich tapestry of higher education experiences, including the exemplary work of the National Forum T&L in Ireland. By featuring inspiring speakers who became fellow travelers in the conference journey, offering workshops, and fostering interactive sessions, #FEBSETC created a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. Additionally, the groundbreaking #FEBSacademy provided a vital first step in the journey of training for academics teaching in molecular life sciences. Having had the privilege to participate as a speaker, session chair, and organizer, and to co-present one of the #FEBSacademy courses alongside Ali Burak Özkaya, I can attest to the richness of the experience. Furthermore, the diverse audience, comprising seasoned educators, researchers, and students alike deserves commendation for their invaluable contributions. I had the pleasure of engaging with brilliant ideas and colleagues such as Marco Antonio Carvalho Filho, Terry Maguire, Boris Jokic , Dr. Sybille Reichert Damjana Kastelic, Leanne Williams, David Smith, Steve Rutherford, Nigel Francis, and many others. Undoubtedly, #FEBSETC emerges as one of the most exceptional education conferences in molecular life sciences to date. Congratulations to the education committee – a stellar team including Luciane Vieira de Mello , Ly Villo, Francesco Malatesta, @didier , Jerka Dumic, and Ferhan Sagin – for their outstanding efforts. And kudos to @FEBS for championing this initiative! Just returned from an amazing congress focusing on the education in molecular life sciences, FEBS Education and Training Conference which was held between 20-23 March 2024 in Antalya (Türkiye) (https://febsetc.org/). It was my first interaction (but it's never too late) with the FEBS Education Committee and ambassadors, all of whom are highly enthusiastic people about education as well as very kind in personality. I had the opportunity to present a poster entitled "Online Tools for Bioinformatics Education: A Strategy for Active Learning" and attend one of the first training courses of the newly established FEBS Education and Training Academy: Bridging Science and Teaching; Active Learning Strategies for Molecular Life Scientists instructed by Manuel Joao Costa and Ali Burak Özkaya. I have met too many amazing people all around the world which I am sure we will keep contact. My special gratitudes to Prof. Ferhan Sagin for her great efforts and congress co-chair Nino Sinčić. I am so grateful to International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) for the grant and also FEBS for its continuous support in education. This event has opened different doors for me, having many take-home messages. I am hoping to improve my teaching skills and use the power of education in a better way (not limited to science) to make a good impact on the society. Celebrating the beginning of my Linkedin account with this first post highlighting my valuable learning experience from attending the Federation of European Biochemical Society (FEBS) education and training conference held in Antalya, Türkiye on 20-23 March 2024. I have a precious opportunity to present my work to diverse experts in education, on the use of global classroom as a tool to enhance and expand the learning horizon of our Biomedical Science students as part of their multicultural experience learning. I also had a chance to listen and learn from many speakers and trainers on the use of Ai in Bioscience education. I am pretty much convinced that Ai is going to be the future of education, and it is definitely important for us as educators to embrace it sooner. Not to forget the eye-opening visits to Aspendos and Side ❤️ Special appreciation to FEBSETC 2024 organizing committee, especially the chair Ferhan Sagin for such a wonderful conference experience.

It is an incredible opportunity that unfolds over 3 days, packed with enriching experiences and insights. it's happening within the #FEBSetc conference, allowing us to invite colleagues to share their innovative teaching approaches. It was an absolute joy to have Margarida Fardilha and Knut Teigen join us and witness how engaged participants were in their personal teaching stories. At its core, education is all about sharing knowledge and experiences. Been a fantastic few days at the FEBS Education and Training Conference not only discussing the challenges that our students are facing as technologies and the world they graduate into continue to advance; but also dynamic and inspiring ways that we can address these challenges, to transform the education environment to better support and equip every student, encouraging them to pursue the life they want, not just the career they feel they should want. Shout out to my little ghost who managed to stow away in my suitcase so got to join at the FEBS Education and Training Academy workshop on Active Learning Strategies by Manuel Joao Costa and Ali Burak Özkaya.

I had a wonderful time at the FEBS Education and Training conference in Türkiye. Lots of inspirational talks from excellent educators, I’ll be bringing back many ideas to the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) to help with teaching on our 2-year Medical Sciences BSc and public outreach. The excursion to the ancient city of Side and Aspendos was a great choice. Many thanks to Manuel Joao Costa and Ali Burak Özkaya for holding their Active Learning strategies for Molecular Life Sciences workshops during the four-day event.

Blessed to have attended the first Federation of European Biochemical Society (FEBS) education and training conference held in Antalya, Türkiye on 20-23 March 2024. I have the opportunity to present my work on impact of virtual laboratory simulation on enhancement of psychomotor skills through reflective learning and attend the FEBS Education and Training Academy Certified Workshop. Special appreciation to FEBSETC organiser Ferhan Sagin for organising the great conference and facilitators of the FEBS academy certified workshops - Damjana Kastelic from Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), Barcelona, Spain and Luciane Vieira de Mello from University of Liverpool, UK, for their sharing. Special thanks to International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) for the travel fellowship to attend this conference. The workshop on Building Career-Ready Scientists: A Practical Guide to Assessing, Integrating, and Reflecting on Transferable Skills in Science Education” focus on nurturing transferable skills and preparing scientists for diverse career paths.
