About us

The Commission on the Status of Women of San Mateo County is a non-partisan appointed body that advises the County Board of Supervisors. It was established by the Board of Supervisors in 1982 to provide leadership in developing policies, programs and legislation that address the needs of women, girls and families. The Commission makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors and involves the community to help broaden opportunity, identify and remedy gender discrimination, and also to honor the achievements of San Mateo County women. If you have questions or suggestions regarding the Commission, or if you would like to participate on a committee or apply to serve as a commissioner, please feel free to contact us by telephone at 650-363-4467 or [email protected]
