For the third consecutive year, Boise State University broke its philanthropic record in fiscal year 2024, with giving totaling $61.3 million from 28,146 individual donors. “We are incredibly excited to announce the success that our Unbridled campaign has already achieved, and we are grateful to the thousands of donors who have shown their support for Boise State University students, faculty, programs, and athletics! These gifts positively impact individuals, often changing their lives for the better, and they also profoundly impact Idaho and our broader world,” said Dr. Marlene Tromp, Boise State president. Publicly launched in October 2023 and running through 2028, Unbridled: The Campaign for Boise State University is the university’s most ambitious philanthropic and alumni engagement campaign in its history, with a fundraising goal of $500 million to make key investments in endowed scholarships, endowed faculty positions, and Bronco Athletics. Since October, donors have established 41 new scholarship funds, including 22 through the Scholarship Endowment Bridge Program, in which the Boise State University Foundation matches gift commitments to endowed scholarships, allowing the university to begin awarding funds from new scholarships immediately. In total, donors have established 1,081 new scholarship funds since the start of the campaign. To date, Boise State has raised $346.9 million through the Unbridled campaign, including $81.4 million in student support, with nearly $60 million of this for endowed scholarships; $37.0 million for faculty and research support; and $130.8 million for Athletics’ What’s Next initiative. Bronco Girl got a degree. After spending the last six seasons opening Boise State University Football games by riding her horse, Blue, across the turf of Albertsons Stadium, Cathy Jo Ayotte graduated with an online Bachelor of Arts in Public Health in December 2023. “My aunt was a Bronco Girl in the late 1980s, but she never talked about it until I became Bronco Girl,” she said. “Back then, each girl was sent over from the rodeo team and only got to do it for one game. The fact I got to do it for six years was outstanding. Join us in welcoming Reid Wiggins, ’17, and Greg Williams, ’19, as new directors to the Boise State University Alumni Association Board! Reid has worked in commercial banking for 20 years and 16 years at WaFed Bank (formerly Washington Federal), currently leading the commercial banking division for the Idaho region. He provides real estate, business, and small business/community banking services. He also serves on the Downtown Boise Association board of directors and loves hiking, go-karting, and spending summertime in Stanley with his wife and two sons. Greg pursued his degree in Business Administration at Boise State with help from the GI Bill after serving in Afghanistan as a member of the U.S. Army, where he developed his teambuilding and leadership skills. He now works for the Boise-based international outdoor and military soft goods brand Eberlestock, where he has risen to chief marketing officer. Join us in welcoming Mary Toy, ’94, and Hailie Johnson-Waskow, MBA, ’18, as new directors to the Boise State University Alumni Association Board! A military brat, Mary was born and grew up overseas and still treasures her time in Germany. While at Boise State earning her degree in Marketing, she was a track and field athlete, and still has strong connections to Boise State Athletics. With two decades of experience in program management and account services, she now works as an account supervisor for Team One, a division of Publicis Groupe. In the spring, she works in her garden; in the summer, she loves traveling to tropical locations; and in the fall she can be found on the Blue supporting Boise State football, basketball, and other sports. While at Boise State, Hailie was a nationally ranked policy debater with the Talkin’ Broncos speech and debate team. Today, she uses the skills she built as a debater as a lobbyist with Waskow Policy, LLC, a public affairs group that helps its clients work with state and local governments. She also volunteers as a court-appointed special advocate in child protection cases. As a Guardian Ad Litem, she works toward the best possible outcomes for children. Join us in welcoming Bailey Reese, ’23, and Bryan Taylor, ’98, as new directors to the Boise State University Alumni Association Board! After graduating from the College of Business and Economics at Boise State in 2023, Bailey went to work for financial services company Echelon Group as a client services representative. Passionate about Spanish — he taught English in Seville, Spain, for a year before attending Boise State. As a financial advisor at Echelon Group, he works with individuals on their retirement plans. An outdoorsman, he loves camping, snowboarding, and exploring Idaho’s hidden gems. Bryan brings a wealth of diverse experiences to the board. As the chancellor of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise, he works with the Holy See, national Catholic organizations and institutions, local parishes and pastoral leadership. Before this, he served as the prosecuting attorney for Canyon County for 14 years, and has taught as an adjunct at Boise State for 20 years. A true Bronco at heart, Bryan is an avid football fan and resides in Caldwell with his wife and two children.
