On September 12, 2024, Benchmark celebrated the opening of its advanced facility in Penang, Malaysia, aiming to boost its global presence and support the semiconductor, medical, industrial, and aerospace sectors, in line with the anticipated growth of the semiconductor industry.

September 12, 2024, we have marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of our new facility in Batu Kawan by Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi bin Abdul Razak, Yang Di- Pertua Negeri of The State of Penang. This expansion, Benchmark’s fourth facility in the region, underscores Bencmark’s strong commitment to growth and innovation. Our new facility, spanning an impressive 8,000 sq. metres with space to further expand, significantly enhances Benchmark’s capacity and capabilities in the region. The Right Honourable Mr. Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang said, “Benchmark’s expansion within the state serves as a testament to Penang’s status as a sustainable investment location. This move not only underscores Penang’s appeal to global industry leaders but also highlights the region’s capacity to support long-term growth and innovation.” Jeff Benck, our President and CEO said “Expanding our footprint in Asia, especially in Penang where the community and government have been so supportive of Benchmark’s continued investment, aligns well with our strategic direction. This facility will enhance our capabilities and capacity, enabling us to better serve our growing customers who are either already located in the region or intend to further expand their production in APAC. We’d like to thank MIDA for their support of this new investment bringing additional capabilities and innovation to the state, as well as the support of various other community partners who have helped us achieve this goal.” This expansion was driven by the need to accommodate new and existing customer projects, many of which are slated to launch in 2025, and to vertically integrate with Benchmark’s existing Penang facilities to improve quality, efficiency and time-to-market for customer products. Benchmark is bringing key capabilities such as e-beam welding, large form factor 5-axis machining, type-2 cleaning, and is establishing one of the largest welding and frame manufacturing operations in the region. Dato Dr. Balamurugan Sinnsamy, our Group President, Manufacturing said " Beyond technological advancement and business growth, this facility represents our deep-rooted commitment to the Penang community. Benchmark has always believed to giving back to and growing alongside the communities we we operate. With the construction of this new facility, we will be creating up to 200 new jobs over the next few years, adding to the 1,500 employees we currently have in Penang. This growth not only supports our business objective but also contributes to the local economy and provides valuable opportunities to the local workforce

Successfully completed the 3rd harvesting of hydroponics project, which is part of our ongoing ESG initiatives. This time, we prepared a fresh salad featuring delicious dressing. During break time, employees enjoyed the freshly harvested salad, which highlighted the benefits of our hydroponic planting. Feedback from them was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the fresh flavors and the opportunity to support our sustainability effort.
