Ardian Women’s Club Zurich hosted together with other asset managers, SECA - Swiss Private Equity & Corporate Finance Association and Level 20 DACH the second edition of an informal networking “Women in Private Equity” event. With around 100 Women from the Private Equity industry in Switzerland we spent a fantastic and inspiring evening. The evening was opened by a presentation and Q&A session from Giulia Monteduro, with inspiring words about her career in Private Equity and a Case Study. The evening was concluded with an apéro and networking. The event was a great opportunity to connect with peers! Last week, the Ardian Women's Club held a successful Lunch and Learn event for women in the Americas! 🌟   We were honored to welcome Dr. Annika Clauss from Hengeler Mueller for an interactive and engaging discussion on how to navigate a male-dominated industry. She shared with us invaluable lessons from her career. Dr. Annika Clauss is a corporate partner at Hengeler Mueller, a tier 1 international law firm in Germany. She is focusing her practice on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, joint ventures and other complex corporate matters. Annika is a member of the executive board of Hengeler Mueller and one of thirteen female equity partners of the firm. She has co-chaired the International Private Equity and Venture Capital Committee of the American Bar Association for the last three years and is a frequent speaker at international M&A conferences.   More than 15 members from the Club joined the discussion across our New York, San Francisco, and Santiago offices. The Ardian Women’s Club proudly sponsored an event at the Villa Albertine in New York with Université Paris Dauphine - PSL to discuss gender disparities in science and more precisely in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The event featured esteemed speakers including Elyès Jouini, Dauphine-UNESCO Women and Science chair, Charlotte Alexander, Professor of Law and Ethics at the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business, and Clémentine VAN EFFENTERRE, Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Toronto. Together, they presented their research on the various forces that may nudge women to diverge from scientific studies and professions. The following day, Elyès Jouini was invited to speak at the Ardian Women's Club Lunch and Learn series. Attended by New York colleges in person and Santiago and San Francisco colleges via video conference, there was an interactive dialogue on Jouini's findings on gender stereotypes and early-stage influence on female selection into scientific studies. Women of Influence , a global organization committed to advancing gender equity in the workplace, revealed that nearly 80% of women experience age-based discrimination in the workplace. Increase in stress, second-guessing of capabilities, impaired career progression, lack of sense of belonging at work and other repercussions are far-reaching. There’s no role or sector where ageism doesn’t exist and as such, there are a multitude of ways in which it can present itself. CEO of the Woman of Influence , Dr Rumeet Billan, Ph.D., spoke with CBC about their findings of a recent survey, Exploring the Impact of Ageism of Women in the Workplace, and discussed why this happens, how it impacts women professionally and personally, and what measures organizations can take to address the issue.
