Non-profit Organizations

Airbnb.org facilitates temporary stays for people impacted by humanitarian and environmental crises around the world.

About us

Our mission is to unlock the power of sharing space, resources, and support in times of crisis. The inspiration for Airbnb.org began in 2012 with a single Airbnb Host named Shell who opened up her home to people impacted by Hurricane Sandy and started a movement to provide free, temporary stays with Airbnb Hosts. That movement became Airbnb.org. Airbnb.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting people impacted by large-scale crises to free, temporary stays with the support of Hosts and organizations around the world. Airbnb.org is a separate and independent entity from Airbnb, Inc. and leverages Airbnb, Inc.’s technology, services, and other resources at no charge to carry out Airbnb.org’s charitable purpose. Airbnb, Inc. does not charge service fees for Airbnb.org-supported stays on its platform.
