Our friends at ABA CDSV are celebrating 30 years of great work centering survivors! Join them, in person or virtually, for a conversation with the Illinois Prison Project on Saturday, August 3rd. In this discussion with the Illinois Prison Project, Women & Survivors Project, we will explore the intersection of criminalization and domestic violence, situating these elements within the broader movement against mass incarceration. Expert panelists, including advocates, legal professionals, and survivors, will share their perspectives on how survivors of gender-based violence are disproportionately impacted by the injustices perpetuated in our current criminal legal system. They will highlight the urgent need for reform, advocating for a more compassionate and holistic approach to justice. The discussion will emphasize the importance of education in transforming public perception and advocating for survivors effectively. When and Where: Saturday, August 3rd - 1:30-3:30 central time In person: Loyola University Chicago School of Law Virtually by Zoom: https://shorturl.at/XTY2Y

In #rural communities, the rental housing provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has been a critical source of housing for older adults, especially as it is often the only source of stable, safe, and decent #housing. As of 2023, more than one third of USDA's Section 515 program's units were home to older adults. This webinar will provide an overview of USDA's rental housing programs and the applicable laws governing them. Presenters will also discuss common barriers faced by older residents of USDA's largest rental housing program as well as strategies for overcoming them. Presenters: Natalie N. Maxwell, National Housing Law Project Marcos Segura, National Housing Law Project Register here:
