ZEISS VISUCORE 500

ZEISS VISUCORE 500

Introducing the latest vision technology innovation from ZEISS – the VISUCORE® 500, a two-in-one refraction unit that combines precise objective and subjective refraction in one device.

Thanks to its pioneering design and user-friendly functionalities, the VISUCORE 500 increases efficiency by allowing practices to complete a refraction in less than 5 minutes1, without compromising on accuracy. A combined refraction unit, VISUCORE® 500 consists of a ZEISS VISUSCREEN 100 Compact and ZEISS VISUCORE 500 refractor. The VISUSCREEN 100 compact is a digital chart that uses internal mirrors and vergence control systems to enable a five-metre virtual viewing distance into just one-metre. Combined with its state-of-art binocular wavefront auto-refractor. This has a streamlined refraction process offering an array of visual acuity and binocular vision tests for clinical efficiency, as well as enabling ZEISS i.Scription lenses.

With the ZEISS VISUCORE® 500, the patient experience is improved. This means that the refraction time is now shortened for both the optician and the patient, enabling a more efficient end-to-end testing process, allowing more time for patients’ consultation. In fact, you can now conduct objective refraction in both patients’ eyes, in less than 40 seconds. And what is even more impressive, is that the ZEISS VISUCORE 500 can fit into a space of up to 0.8m2, saving space and allowing for more space in testing rooms.

The ZEISS VISUCORE 500

But it is not just an efficient patient process that the ZEISS VISUCORE® 500 offers. As a part of the ZEISS VTS ecosystem, the VISUCORE® 500 is incredibly easy to integrate into practice. It can be connected to other ZEISS VTS equipment, enabling a seamless workflow and easy transfer of patient data from one system to another. Furthermore, despite boasting incredibly efficient refraction capabilities, the ZEISS VISUCORE® 500 is straightforward to use, making it the perfect companion for the testing room. With the new standardised step-by-step “Guided Mode”, a full refraction can be completed step-by-step, ensuring that the testing process is seamless from start to finish. For subjective refraction testing, the ZEISS VISUCORE® 500 also features “Freestyle Mode”, so it can be operated as a standard phoropter.

1.          ZEISS Vision Science Lab/Uni Tübingen and CZV study with 33 subjects and 6 examiners, Time needed for objective and subjective refraction by inexperienced examiners with guided mode on average 4:49 minutes, November 2022

John Murphy had a look at this at European Academy of Optometry and Optics very impressive.
