World Photography Day - Todd Wright

World Photography Day - Todd Wright

First photographer is todd wright, owner of Todd Wright Photography. When asked to share photos, Todd says "It's not easy to pull my "favorite" images from roughly 26 years of taking pictures. The ones I've chosen are just a few that stand out over recent years. They stand out for different reasons, but I think they represent what I love about photography. I've been blessed to shoot so many different types of images for so many unique clients and it's that diversity that has kept it as fulfilling today as it was when I first started."

This image is from a fashion editorial that I shot on the beach in Virginia. It's one of my favs for its simplicity and subtle details, like the wind in her hair. The photo separates itself into 4 elements....the shirt, the necklace, the sky and the girl. Often, clean and simple imagery can be the most impactful.

These images are from a shoot I did with Jack Daniels at their distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. It will always be one of my most favorite shoots because of the wonderful time we had making these images using Jack employees. Although every brand needs a strategy, Jack's is pretty simple - Just tell the story as it happened, starting in 1864.

We spent the day with Jesse Clark and Stacy Murphy (Tilt CP) at Virginia International Raceway showcasing Jesse's ridiculous talent behind the wheel. From tires screeching around turns to smoke filled shots of burnouts & crazy speeds on straightaways, I was exhausted just watching Jesse work.

This was one of my favorite personal projects. I am always on the lookout for cool subjects to shoot on my down time and came across this falconry in the mountains of Virginia. I'm super proud to have won quite a few international awards for this series, but more importantly it was just fun keeping it simple, just me, my camera and the story.

This image for Audi is high on my list of favorites, mostly because of the awesome crew I got to work with and just being outside in such a beautiful location. My client list is pretty diverse and I love that I get to shoot so many cool jobs that are all unique. BUT, put me outside in a place like this and I have to pinch myself....it's still hard to believe I get to do this for a living!

Quite a few years ago the Virginia Wine Board hired me to shoot their new branding imagery. That shoot turned into one of my favorite collaborations that's been going strong for years now. Just like the Audi image, the places that I get to explore from before sunrise to beyond sunset, are just incredible. Some of the wineries stretch for miles on level ground and others seem to hang off the sides of the steepest mountains.

These 2 images are from a recent editorial job that I shot in Richmond, Virginia. In some ways this shoot takes me full circle to the first fashion image in this series. In the same way that the fashion image was simple, so are the elements of Ceramic arts. Clay, water, fire and human hands are the simple elements of ceramics. Not so simple, is the pulling together of all these ingredients by the artist. I was blown away watching the ease with which Claire from Bear Ceramics, turned the clay into beautiful pieces of art. These editorial shoots are so important to what I do. They allow me to be a small part of so many incredible stories and to simply create, often while watching others.

Tilt Creative Production great share! Todd, these are all amazing in their own right. But this "Bird (of prey) Nerd" nearly died when I opened up the spread about the falconry.
