What is CTPAT?

Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) is a joint effort by Customs and the Trade Community to raise the level of security associated with the Import and Export supply chain of merchandise to and from the United States.

We recommend that every importer, exporter, manufacturer, Customs broker, NVOCC, and warehouse proprietor join this partnership in a proactive effort to raise the bar on security standards in the United States.

Here are some of the benefits of joining CTPAT:

  • Elimination of delays of imported cargo due to examinations.

  • Automatic mitigation to CBP fines and penalties.

  • Expedited release of detained cargo subject to forced labor reviews.

  • No in-house Customs Audits are performed on CTPAT members who are approved as trusted traders combining compliance and security.

  • More efficient import supply chain process.

New CTPAT Minimum Security Requirements

  • Corporate responsibility

  • Cyber security controls

  • Agricultural Security

  • Enhanced Security Threat Awareness Training

  • Social Compliance and Forced Labor controls

  • Import Compliance Good Standing

It is crucial that applicants exercise care during the application process and ensure that the partnership questionnaire and application are completed accurately and factually.
