Taking ‘Flight’: A new imprint from Ebury and Steven Bartlett

Today we launched our joint publishing venture in partnership with Steven Bartlett, Flight Books, which looks to create globally successful non-fiction titles that endeavour to achieve a healthier humanity. The imprint has been months in the making and is a collaboration between our team at Ebury and Steven.

The launch comes off of the back of Steven’s instant no 1. bestseller The Diary of a CEO: The 33 Rules of Business and Life which published last Autumn. The UK edition alone has sold over 600,000 copies across formats, spent 23 weeks in the Sunday Times bestseller chart, and has reached all corners of the globe with international rights sold in over 40 territories.

Flight Books will launch with the memoir of high-performance endurance athlete and a recent hit Diary of a CEO podcast guest Russ Cook, known as Hardest Geezer, who will tell the story of becoming the first person to run the length of Africa. Cook’s ultra-marathon covered 10,000 miles (the equivalent of 386 marathons) and raised over £1 million for charity.

Laura Nicol and Abby Watson, both Heads of Campaigns at Ebury, worked together on the award-winning campaign for The Diary of a CEO and have been spearheading the imprint development alongside the team at Ebury and Steven’s team. They explore why this new imprint is important and the opportunities it presents:

Beyond his own books, Steven has always been influential in the book world, and his huge community (of nearly 15 million across social!) means his recommendations have impact. Most recently, his ‘Steven Bartlett Recommends’ book club partnership with WH Smith has been hugely successful, selling over 150,000 books across a variety of authors during the partnership.

He is the ultimate connector and talent-spotter, and we hope the imprint will be a game-changer in discovering new voices, platforming authors and finding new readers in the non-fiction space!

We’ve loved working with the talented Diary of a CEO and Flight team on Steven’s breakout book and on this imprint launch, and we can’t wait to combine Steven's expertise together with our own in this project. This partnership will see us supercharge our acquisitions and publishing processes with deeper audience engagement and insight to really get to the heart of what people all over the world want to read. We’ve so much more to announce - watch this space!’
