Renewables provide 30 per cent of global electricity for the first time 

Almost a third of electricity globally was generated from renewable sources last year, fuelling hopes that emissions from the power sector could have already peaked. The latest Global Electricity Review highlighted the gains were driven by a 10% increase in wind energy generation and a 23% increase in solar power generation.
