RAVE Tech Tidbit: Intel New Releases

The last few years have been a whirlwind of fear and uncertainty, while also creating a unique space for creativity, and paving the way for incredible enhancements in computing. Intel chose CES to kick off two huge unveilings. First: Raptor Lake, Intel’s line of 13th Generation Core mobile CPU’s will take the world by storm in the coming weeks and months as they begin to show up in systems from Alienware, Razer, MSI, ASUS, and many others. This newest generation comes in HX, H, P, and U series, all with substantial advances over previous generations. Intel stacked the deck with enhancements including support for up to 128GB of DDR5, Wi-Fi 6e, and support for up to four Thunderbolt 4 Ports. Intel stepped into the ring with a purpose, and it's obvious they have been listening to the needs of mainstream users, game enthusiasts, content creators and many others. As though their CES announcement wasn’t enough, Intel launched their 4th Generation of Xeon Scalable Processors codenamed Sapphire Rapids. As fun as a laptop can be, it doesn't hold a candle to what is possible with this new lineup of workload intensive CPU’s. THIS is what excites us at RAVE! With improvements in networking, security, and storage, the newest Xeon chips are poised to offer up to ten times the performance over the previous generation when dealing with real time inference and training for those using PyTorch open-source deep learning framework. This generation offers up to 8 sockets for Platinum series of chips, and up to four and two for the Gold and Silver processors respectively. 80 lanes of PCIe 5.0 are available across the three with support for DDR5 up to 4800MT/s in with a single DIMM per channel or 4200MT/s with two DIMM’s per channel. CPUs are expected to be available as soon as late February 2023. Click here to see the full lineup and advancements Intel has released with the newest Generation of Xeon Scalable Processors.

This is certainly turning into an exciting year, and we are only 17 days in! RAVE plans to continue our work into high performance computing and pushing the envelope on developing the highest quality purpose-built computers for all industries. Intel’s newest releases advance our ability to put optimized, high-performance, custom compute solutions into the hands of industry professionals, photogrammetry, machine learning, GPU intensive workloads. RAVE is ready!
