PASSION- CHAPTER 3

PASSION- CHAPTER 3

Hello all, welcome to the first post in April. This post will begin to close the Passion Chapters for now. It will give practical ways to help FOCUS when it comes to birthing a Passion.
Let’s start with a little summary of the chapter so far.
1. Passion is not limited to you alone.
2. Your uniqueness is not in what you do but How you do it.
3. It is possible to have more than one Passion in your lifetime.
4. Birthing a particular Passion is seasonal: it doesn’t have an expiry date but it is timely.
5. Nature knows what it wants in and out of season: let your Passion meet its needs.
6. Passion is not something you will like to do- it’s something you HAVE to do.
7. Passion takes time to mature.
8. Passion doesn’t come already made- but it has all you need; it has its own energy (ability).
9. Passion is expensive- it will cost sleepless nights, isolation and intentional dedicated time.
10. Passion requires great communication with the Passion bearer.
Focus arrives after communication, where more clarity would have been achieved. After continual communication, the materials and tools needed will come to light (in your heart or head). That’s when Focus comes in.

How to Focus
Be Alone: It is extremely difficult to Focus in a distractive atmosphere. So firstly, separate yourself from distraction (I don’t just mean noise). “Alone Times” as discussed in February will help with this. You will gain depth and insight when alone. It will help you to judge your motive and take a detailed look at yourself…. I mean how tenacious and dedicated are you in birthing a Passion?
Think– SWOT your brains out. Think about the Hows, Wheres, Whats, What ifs, Whens, etc.
Invest: Physically and mentally- study and research. Add more knowledge to yourself and gain experience. Spiritually- PRAY. This means increase your spiritual account. You will gain enlightenment and more assurance. You will also gain detailed direction.
Watch out
Passionate people can be INSENSITIVE. I have witnessed as new people enter an Organisation full of vigour and ideas but give total disregard to the people they came to meet. Try your best not to fall into this! If nature had found them useless, it would have disposed them before you stepped onto the scene. Show respect and give reverence to seniority.
Insensitivity is usually as a result of immaturity!

It’s personal

I remember getting a burning idea to take students to West Africa to volunteer. I was 21 and did accomplish this task. Had I Communicated and Focused, I wouldn’t have been as insensitive and that achievement would have gone further than it did. Don’t get me wrong, I am glad and proud I did it, it was a hefty thing to do! But from reflection, I know I was insensitive and immature in the way I handled some things. Immaturity is costly; for me it cost me real sustainability and longevity with this particular project- no evidence of continuity was put in place and I did not think far enough- I was too excited! While I can easily organise these educational trips to the continent of Africa with intense safeguarding and welfare in place, I will do things differently now.
Do not allow your passion to become so far-fetched that it is separable from you. If that happens, then Communication is lacking. You can do it, but before you launch, persuade yourself; get to the point where you are so sure of the idea/s!
Do find or get a Passion, spend time to Communicate, Focus and finally turn it into a Skill.
Let’s conclude this chapter next week with how to translate your Passion into a SKILL.
Thanks for reading. As usual- don’t forget to share, comment, repost and follow.
