If not now, then when?

If not now, then when?

Why system engineering? How did you come into this profession?

Actually I am studying for a masters in AI but I desire to have a career in the system engineering environment and there are two main reasons that motivated me to join the system engineering team. First, the idea of working with qualified multinational team members and the second thing is the technologies that are used by the team was appealing, and convinced me to pursue my career as a system engineer at Smaato. In addition, I am interested in Cloud technologies and solution design methodologies, so being a part of systems engineering was a perfect opportunity for me.

What do you do at Smaato? How does it make an impact? How does it feel being a student?

I am currently a working student and it feels great working at Smaato. I can work without any pressure and learn new tools and technical skills every single day. Whenever I need support, all my teammates lend a hand and show me great new approaches. My onboarding period was fun and very efficient.

What were the most fascinating recent projects you worked upon?

I had tried to work with mainstream cloud technologies in the industry. For the first time in my career, I got the chance at Smaato and I loved it. Until now, I really enjoyed taking part in cost reduction projects on AWS and it made me feel productive. It also sent me down a rabbit hole where I learned a lot.

What’s your current biggest challenge?

Honestly I do not have a big challenge yet, but learning new tools and design strategies requires some time. I try to push myself as much as possible to get into them in a short period of time.

What’s your life motto?

If not now, then when?

What’s your favorite story while working at Smaato / or best day at Smaato?

This is a little bit of a difficult question because I can think of several days. I was so impressed by my teammates and my manager on my interview day. They were so friendly when they approached me, and I felt that there was a great team culture unlike my previous experiences. Was not wrong because I still feel  that warm and friendly feeling this day.

How do you spend your free time?

I play sports in my free time, and if I have a long vacation, I prefer travelling.

What would you recommend to young professionals choosing this career path?

As a young professional, I was quite selective on which technologies that I will use and the teammates I would collaborate with, so I would definitely recommend those two factors.
