May 2016 Jobs Report -- So Much Whining

JOBS // Some folks weren't happy about May 2016's  job report. The Jobs Creators aren't happy that you aren't selling yourself for free ... or at least cheap. Some of the Job Seekers aren't happy that employers just don't understand them ... and then show up late to an interview when they get one ... or don't seem to realize that paychecks are in constant play since 2007.

Part of the problem is that a good number of folks have not moved on beyond 1999, and the good times for all.

Throughout the 1990s we repeatedly said that we could DO MORE with LESS.

You know what? We could ... and we still can! Much more. 2007's economic implosion commanded us in a Star Trekky voice: Make it so! There is no turning back.

Hey, Employers ... and beloved Jobs Creators ... YOU have a problem. You want expertise but aren't willing to train folks. That worked well as very smart folks were available for cheap by the dozen from 2008-2012 ... but those days are gone. You ignored the young and recycled the experienced Boomers -- who are now experiencing high levels of heart attacks and other issues because their natural lives are moving on.

Hey, Job Seekers: Millions of jobs are going unfilled everyday. Part of the problem: your skills are weak. The desire to get your hands dirty ... umm, gosh. Your education: doubly weak ... and you probably borrowed money to study something that made you a better human being, but not necessarily a great hire for companies that pay money for skillsets. BTW -- I acknowledge that there is no degree that you can study that will guarantee you a job. Seek balance. You, we, I need to know more about how the world works. Very few people ever get jobs that actually use the degree that they studied. Balance art (which is essential) with some skillset and technical expertise.

Jobs going unfilled -- everywhere!

    HVAC, Electricians, Plumbers

    Enterprise / Supply Chain knowledge

IT / Network / Cyber skills

    Institutional Finance management

    Construction and/or Mining

    Software development / maintenance

AND THANK GOODNESS for Amazon .com because too many people look at sales jobs and reaching out to other humans to encourage them to exchange money for goods and services as almost evil.

And this is precisely why I'm in the process of adding Cybresecurity to my skillset.
