Q1. What was the motivating factor that made you move over to Australia and what made you choose to move with KPMG originally ?

I moved to Australia as it is a wonderful country with amazing opportunities and at the same time great quality of life. I chose KPMG for its people, its culture and the interesting work we do here.

Q2. From a lifestyle perspective how has the change been ? What are 2 things that you expected and 2 things that you didn’t expect ?

My lifestyle has definitely improved a lot, now I have a more flexible working arrangement which allows me to look after both my physical and mental wellbeing. I expected the lifestyle to be great, particularly in Sydney, and I also expected the weather to be much better than in Europe – both expectations have turned out to be correct. I did not expect the structure of Australian firms to be this flat and so easy to fit in, and I did not expect the coffee to be this good!

Q3. How do you feel your time at KPMG Australia has influenced your career direction ?

I feel like at KPMG I had the chance to test myself with complex problems and was given a great deal of responsibility from day one. This allowed me to be challenged and grow thanks to these challenges. I feel like at KPMG if you work hard and deliver, you will be rewarded for it, and my career has definitely benefited from that.

Q4. What has been your most rewarding experience with KPMG and on that note the most challenging experience ?

The most challenging experience was also the most rewarding for me, I was working hard for one of our biggest clients and the project delivery deadline was approaching. Despite the high intensity of the work environment, the client expressed that they were very happy with my support and also ended up giving me an award at the end of the project during the awards ceremony dinner.

Q5. What would your general advice be for anyone abroad that is on the fence or looking to relocate to Australia ?

Nothing great is achieved without taking risks and stepping outside your comfort zone. It takes a lot of courage and it is a very stressful decision to make but my advice would be: book that flight! You won’t regret it.

I remember picking up your laptop with you the day you joined KPMG Matteo Musso. It's great to see how far you've come and still plenty more to achieve 🚀
