It's impossible to Recruit right now...
Trying to attract good people..?

It's impossible to Recruit right now...

It's a bit like...

You can't get new clients in December...

Absolutely true, unless you choose to do something about it...

We used to own a Recruitment agency - initially to find drivers and warehouse staff for our own Logistics business, but it expanded to serve a wider audience...

There a 100's of ways to attract good people to apply for your vacancies, but way too many people just go on Indeed - which of course is a good start - and ignore the other possibilities...

So, here's a simple checklist of tactics you can use to attract the people you need to help your business thrive...

  1. Ask for referrals. From your team, suppliers and clients, see whom they know and are happy to invite to apply...
  2. Watch for good people you meet when you are out and about, depending on the role, you may connect with some good candidates...
  3. Put a sign in the window...
  4. Have a stand at the local supermarket on Saturday and display the vacancies you have...
  5. Circulate opportunities on social media, do a video explaining the role and share it everywhere...
  6. Have your vehicles sign written with the vacancy hotline...
  7. Contact the organisation that helps ex-service personnel find work...
  8. Go networking and have vacancy cards printed to hand out...
  9. Take on an Apprentice...
  10. Take a stand at the Sunday Car Boot Sale and hand out flyers...
  11. Use job sites - there are plenty out there...
  12. Consider remote working, offshoring, and outsourcing if possible...
  13. Hire a freelancer rather than an employee...
  14. Advertise for two part-timers rather than one full-timer...
  15. Make the opportunity attractive - flexibility, home working, great conditions, etc...
  16. Finally - if all else fails, speak with an Agency, they do get some bad press, but there are good ones out there...

If you haven't done all these, then you're not really trying...

Some great ideas in here David! The boot fair one is one of my favourites in that list! Reckon you might have missed a couple out though... 1. Show people what it's like to work for xyz company. Social media is great for that. 2. Head Hunting. LinkedIn is a great tool for this.
