Inside PROK Brazil’s Recent Technical Workshop Focused on the Future of Conveyor Technology

This June, PROK Brazil presented an Innovation at work: Technical Workshop for our key customers, highlighting the future of conveyor component technology and showcasing our strength, expertise, and capability in the industry.

PROK Brazil is a world-class facility spanning over 1600 sqm, specialising in manufacturing conveyor pulleys and rollers, as well as offering pulley refurbishment services. These conveyor components keep some of the largest mining conveyors in the world operating at peak performance.

Our strong presence in the region and launch of our new tagline “Innovation at work.” served as an opportunity to bring the industry together and host a Technical Workshop to present and demonstrate new technologies available in the market that can improve conveyor belt performance and efficiency. This included discussions on our innovative lightweight composite roller, PROK HDPE, which is the only roller on the market to use wear indicator technology for smarter maintenance outcomes on-site.

Leading the Innovation at work: Technical Workshop was PROK Brazil General Manager, David Reis, who has over 15 years of experience in the mining industry, delivering on major projects like the Vale S11D expansion and First Quantum Minerals' Cobre Panama.

David Reis remarked,

"The Technical Workshop was a great success, with over 70 customers and partners attending. We had several positive discussions on how PROK can enhance our customers' operational performance."

As an OEM for engineered conveyor pulleys and pulley rebuilds, PROK is backed by a network of reputable suppliers and has access to original parts and materials, ensuring every pulley is built or rebuilt to the highest standards.

Our key supplier for bearing housings and couplings, Henfel, presented their solutions for drives and torque transmission, including the operation and best practices for split couplings, clamping rings, bearing housings, and seals.

Alongside Henfel, other key partners such as SKF Group , BGL, and Mercurio Conveyor Belt also attended and presented at the event.

This Technical Workshop provided an invaluable experience for our customers by allowing them to understand the latest advancements in conveyor technology, explore practical applications of these innovations, and engage directly with experts to address their specific operational challenges.

Customers among the Technical Workshop event included CSN - Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional, Gerdau, Progen, Samarco, Mineração Usiminas and Vale.

Janielce Dayane Dias, Asset Management Engineer at Vale says,

“The event provided the expansion of knowledge, the discovery of new technologies, the establishment of synergies with companies and the exploration of the factory, including the entire production process of conveyor rollers and drum reforms. Thank you PROK for this magnificent event.”

Rosemberg Sanches, a Production Engineer at Progen also added,

Overall, our first Innovation at work: Technical Workshop, hosted by PROK Brazil, was a success.
