INFORM Studio is seeking an Architectural Engineer
INFORM Studio, an award winning architectural and engineering practice is seeking talented and motivated individuals to join its headquarter office located in downtown Northville, MI.
We are looking for an architectural engineer who is interested in developing both their mechanical and electrical engineering expertise while working on a variety of project types. As a team member you will work closely with our internal engineering and architectural disciplines as you assist in designing and documenting mechanical and electrical systems.
The position is anticipated to entail the following:
Mechanical Engineering
o Design of HVAC systems including load and ventilation calculations, equipment selections, and system layout.
o Design of plumbing systems including piping layout, equipment selections, and fixture selection.
o Development of fire protection documents including layout, scope, and coverage requirements for deferred submittal.
Electrical Engineering
o Design of electrical systems including medium and low voltage distribution systems, standby power applications, load calculations, short circuit and coordination studies.
o Design of lighting systems including calculations, lighting controls, luminaire selections and architecturally integrated lighting system design.
o Design of auxiliary systems including fire alarm, voice/data cabling systems, access control, CCTV and other low voltage systems.
Development of engineering models and documents in Revit.
Review of shop drawings and submittals associated with mechanical and electrical engineering.
Regular and coordinated communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Position Qualifications:
Professional degree in Architectural Engineering or similar related curriculum.
Zero to five years of experience.
Proficiency with Revit.
Interest in developing skills in both mechanical and electrical engineering on building systems.
Goal of becoming a licensed PE
Mechanical engineering experience
o Demonstrated capability in designing various HVAC and plumbing systems.
o Some familiarity with Mechanical code and ASHRAE standards
o Some familiarity with Plumbing Code, NFPA, and ASPE standards
Electrical engineering experience
o Demonstrated capability in designing various electrical systems.
o Some familiarity with NEC and other relevant electrical codes.
o Experience in load calculations and system sizing
o Experience with lighting simulation software preferred.
