Feldspar Lays Out World's First Smart Track

UK-based sports technology company Feldspar has revealed plans for an AI-enabled ‘smart’ running surface that it hopes will transform training and the fan experience in athletics. 

The track will use a combination of specialised materials and cameras to capture information from athletes’ footsteps and generate unique data and analytics to improve biomechanical analysis, performance, and storytelling.

Wimbledon Serves Up eChamps With TopSpin 2K25

The All England Lawn Tennis Club has teamed up with BLAST and sponsor American Express to create the Wimbledon eChamps, its first competitive video gaming event. 

The tournament will be based on 2K’s TopSpin 2K25 title. Open qualifiers are being played alongside The Championships this month, with live finals to be played at Wimbledon’s Media Theatre in September. The winner will receive a gold-plated PlayStation 5 and tickets to next year’s men’s singles final.

NBC Brings In AI Broadcast Legend For Paris 2024

NBC Sports will use a generative artificial intelligence to recreate the voice of Al Michaels for its daily streaming recaps of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.  

The 79-year-old, best known for his work of the NFL show Sunday Night Football, has approved the plan and his automated commentary will feature on the company’s Peacock streaming platform.
