How Do You Know A Recruiter Can Save You Time And Money?

I’ve been doing this a while. The rallying war cry of every recruiter is either:

  1. “We’re cheaper!!!”

Or

  1. “We’ll find you better candidates”

Let’s back up a bit.

Define cheaper. In various previous articles (most recently, this one) I’ve written about the hidden costs of recruitment so finding a recruiter who only charges 15% is a bit of a false economy if they’re offering a 3 month placement guarantee and you need to fill the job every 4 months (that’ an exaggeration for most but not all!)

Given the high costs of recruiting, while it’s prudent to watch costs, you don’t want to be, as my gran used to say, “penny wise, pound foolish”. I was born and brought up in the UK so you’ll need to do your own currency conversion.

We’re not cheaper, we’re cost effective. There’s a very real distinction. The MyGateway process basically focuses on the ENTIRE cost of recruiting and ways to well, just not recruit, which gives us 93% average candidate retention after 24 months.

Finding that better “fit” at the outset means that you don’t have to wait 6, 12 or 18 months to find out that while that candidate was great for the job that WAS open, they’re not great for the job that they’re CURRENTLY doing.

As far as finding better candidates, frankly, I have one question.

How do you know they’re better?

Our screening looks at candidates from all angles using different screening and selection tools. The interview is great, in fact it’s so good we do it twice. But that doesn’t preclude us from using other selection tools.
