GPU accelerated BI

Mark Litwintschik recently tested several different databases and configurations using a massive dataset. MapD, powered by NVIDIA Tesla K80 GPUs, resulted in 55x better performance.

What's the secret? MapD's compelling offering uses GPU-based parallel processing capabilities instead of CPUs and benefit from faster GPU memory. And since GPUs are good for graphics too, rendering and visualization is done on the same hardware. This all results in near real-time interactivity to analyze huge databases including geo-data.

Mark Litwintschik concludes: For me personally, the future of BI reporting is GPU-based.

I cannot more than agree. Government and large enterprises in retail, logistics, telco and others started deploying this technology.
