London leads list of Global Sports Cities ahead of Los Angeles and New York

London, United Kingdom, was named as the leading Global Sports City of 2023 ahead of two cities from the United States of America, Los Angeles and New York. Olympic host city for the 2020 Olympic Games, hosted in 2021, was Tokyo in fourth place followed by the host city for the Olympic Games in 2024, Paris, in fifth.

Sustainable Sport Round-Up

This year’s IndyCar Race Weekend at Iowa Speedway from July 21-23 has been presented with the Gold certification by the Council of Responsible Sport. It is the first event in the state to achieve the award, courtesy of the implementation of a broad recycling and waste diversion programme that helped it become the most sustainable edition in the race’s 16-year history.

It comes after a survey found that 27,000 Roma fans felt sustainability should be integrated into the club’s core operations alongside community and future generations.

The Rajasthan Royals cricket team has extended its deal with Luminous Power Technologies as the side’s title sponsor for the next two seasons. This will see the brand continue to feature on the team’s official matchday jersey and training kits. The Royals claim to be embarking on future joint sustainability initiatives to drive community impact, such as providing access to solar energy.
