Generative AI in Legal: Solution Providers

In this article, in the generative AI in Legal series, I am covering established enterprises and startups that have software offerings applying generative AI in the legal domain and making those available to law firms (small & large), corporate general counsels & other legal firms/professionals.

Before we get to the actual companies, let's look at why legal domain is such an important area, so ripe for generative AI applications and how it is adopting and getting disrupted by generative AI - based on this report from Goldman Sachs. I will cover more on generative AI use cases in Legal domain and customer success stories in subsequent articles.

Goldman Sachs Economic Research in its ‘The Potentially Large Effects of Artificial Intelligence on Economic Growth’ estimates that one-fourth of current work tasks could be automated by AI in the US (Exhibit 5, top panel), with particularly high exposures in administrative (46%) and legal (44%) professions (see exhibit below).

Westlaw Generative AI - Westlaw Precision and CoCounsel offer a jump-start on research, rely on answers grounded in trusted authority, accelerate time-intensive tasks and produce top-quality work with increased precision.

Lexis Nexis Lexis AI uses the fastest legal generative AI with conversational search, drafting, summarization, document analysis, and linked hallucination-free legal citations. The offering is powered by Anthropic’s Claude 2, hosted on Amazon Bedrock from Amazon Web Services (AWS), and OpenAI’s GPT-4 and ChatGPT, hosted on Microsoft Azure.

Robin AI is a legal AI company that focuses on leveraging generative AI to automate and speed up the process of drafting, negotiating, and reviewing contracts, as well as extracting information from entire contract repositories through simple search. It aims to help legal teams move faster, save money, and spend more time strategically. Robin is their AI copilot to generate contract drafts and review contracts. Robin AI also offers AI-assisted search, managed services powered by AI and AI contract pilot as a Microsoft Word Add-in. Robin AI uses Anthropic Claude on Amazon Bedrock in their product to dramatically accelerate the time it takes to review, negotiate and query contracts. Centari is the generative AI platform for transactional law, combining secure legal AI with trusted precedent to accelerate transactions. Centari's flagship product is an AI-powered precedent search tool that enables attorneys to surface relevant forms, clauses, and deal history in real time while drafting agreements. Their offering is geared towards law firms, in-house legal teams, solo attorneys, freelancers and students.

Eve is a personalized legal AI assistant that optimized casework from case intake, case evaluation and investigation, legal research, negotiations to resolution.

Paxton Legal AI AI Legal Assistant for contract review, document drafting and legal research. Paxton benefits all legal and business professionals including big law, general counsel, solo and small firms and business teams.

Legalfly’s Copilot streamlines legal operations from contract reviews and drafting to discovery on thousands of legal and financial documents. It also offers training platform to help customers customize Copilot by uploading their own legal and financial documents.

Contract Lifecycle Management

Henchman streamlines contract drafting and negotiating workflow with instant access to customer’s entire legal knowledge base.

Juro for Legal offers a legal AI assistant that automates routine contract tasks from within Juro’s contract automation platform. With Juro for Legal customers can draft, review and summarize contracts faster.

Ironclad AI is an AI powered contract management software that automatically analyzes contracts, flags areas that require a thorough review, and provides suggestions on how to negotiate based on legal-approved guidelines. Fine-tuning Ironclad AI lets organizations adapt existing models to their unique use cases.

ContractPodAI offers Legal AI assistant and AI powered contract lifecycle management. Leah Legal Copilot is their generative AI powered legal assistant designed to support lawyers’ day-to-day legal work, such as creating first drafts, reviewing, redlining, conducting deep analysis, and extracting.

Summize Summize AI powers Contract Lifecycle Management solution to bring speed, automation and intelligence to the way legal and commercial teams create, negotiate and manage contracts across the entire business.

Maigon AI offers AI driven contract review. Its solutions include contract type-specific AI review modules for contracts such as Data Processing Agreement, Privacy Policy, NDAs, Consultancy Agreements, Product Supply Agreements, R&D Agreements and EULAs.

Hercules.ai (Zero Systems) is a generative AI company that brings the power of large language models inside the security perimeter of enterprises. Aurelogy (previously Fileread AI) is an AI-powered litigation tool that opens up a dialogue with their customer’s data, so that legal teams can focus on more value added activities.

Corporate Debt

Noetica AI offers AI for corporate debt transactions with the largest knowledge graph of corporate debt terms.

Justice Intelligence

Darrow.ai Darrow's AI-Powered Justice Intelligence Platform sifts through real world data and legal data to detect harmful events, determine the number of victims, predict the legislative outcome, and assess the financial value of a case. It works by fusing together relevant data points, extracting factual patterns within the publicly available legal databases, and comparing events to determine whether a violation has occurred.

Patent law

IPRally IPRally is a web application designed to help customers be more efficient and successful in their patent and R&D work. Their proprietary Graph AI is designed and trained by patent professionals. It uses knowledge graphs and Graph Neural Networks to offer AI patent search and AI patent classifier functionality.

Injury Law

EvenUp turns medical docs and case files into AI-driven demand packages for injury lawyers Even Up offers an AI-driven solution for winning personal injury claims. EvenUp is on a mission to close the justice gap using technology and AI. They empower personal injury lawyers and victims to get the justice they deserve.

Property diligence

Orbital Witness is a property diligence automation platform for lawyers & property professionals. Their target customers include Law firms, in-house legal teams, residential conveyancing, insurers and property professionals.

Competition Law

Competition AI is the Generative AI platform built for antitrust lawyers at elite law firms and includes the world's premier Competition Law search and answer engine. It is trained on a vast array of Antitrust, Competition and Foreign Direct Investment guidance and textbooks.

Large Language Model
