Faces of Ford: May-lynne Heynes

For May-lynne Heynes, life is one enormous adventure fuelled by a boundless thirst for knowledge.

One of her many passions is a love for science – computer science specifically – which she explores in her role as a quality data analyst at South Africa’s Struandale engine plant.

But it doesn’t stop there. May-lynne’s literature collection is stocked with an impressive assortment of novels and textbooks covering everything from computer coding to metaphysics, and every subject in between.

“If a topic is interesting, I will spend days down a rabbit hole digging up all the information I can find on it,” May-lynne says. “I constantly find myself working on various passion projects, like diving into psychology, to further my understanding of the human mind and nature of people around me.”

May-lynne’s love of science is balanced by her love of art.

“I am best at expressing myself through creativity and art, such as sketching and painting, creative writing and poetry, playing guitar and photography,” she says. “I love capturing early morning sunrises and sharing the beauty of nature to move those around me.

“I am a very introverted individual and I like spending time on my own. I am often seen as reserved by others, but I have a deep and vivid inner self,” May-lynne says. “Learning allows me to explore all topics that call to me.”

Fitness and wellbeing are also important. May-lynne enjoys the gym and often hikes trails on the Eastern Cape.

“I go to the beach whenever I can, to listen to the waves, and make time to regularly centre my inner self by meditating and doing yoga.”

May-lynne says she finds solace and comfort in surrounding herself with the most important people in her life – her family.

“I have two older twin sisters and a younger brother who mean the world to me,” May-lynne explains. “Spending time with the people I love inspires me to be my best self.”

She says her late father was her biggest inspiration.

“He always encouraged me to do my very best in life by giving all my energy and effort into anything I do – no matter how big or small.”

“I am very passionate about living wholeheartedly and doing what makes me happy – my dad taught me that.”
