Facebook, Google Face "Regulatory Reckoning"

How ridiculous to try to reign in the most powerful tech companies in the world, after they've been doing whatever they want for decades with practically zero interference. I know people have their political reasons for coming up with these ideas, but it's essentially like putting up a massive campaign with the slogan: Our economic system doesn't work.

Our whole economy is based on free enterprise. Maybe a better concept for these politicians to introduce is that from tomorrow morning, companies making over $100M must donate anything beyond that amount to the government.

But seriously, if the economic system we have is not working, then let's come up with something better.

"The governments of the U.S. and Europe have essentially decided that they don't want a handful of giant tech companies, accountable to no one but their shareholders, steering the actions of their citizens and shaping our collective worldviews, all in the service of amassing staggering wealth. Legislators and regulators on both sides of the Atlantic are now squaring off against the digital behemoths in what is shaping up to be a modern version of the massive 20th-century antitrust battles with Standard Oil and AT&T." Anti-American Concept

According to our current economic system, no one has any right to demand regulatory changes that would limit the power of the big tech companies, because the system has always been wide open, and accessible to all. So where does this sudden concern come from? Politicians are only doing this now to try to gain some control, which only demonstrates how little control they have compared to these global entities.

So if our current system is so bad, let's dismantle it and put something better in its place. You know the famous saying - you can't dance at two weddings at once. So while we're at it, let's dismantle all the main institutions making up our economy, like the Federal Reserve. It's quite immature and irresponsible to think these massive brands can be tamed at this stage. Why stop with them? Let's shut down all the companies and sites causing our kids harm or taking advantage of the weak online.

Long story short - these populist attempts are a joke. If there are leaders that really want to do something constructive, then maybe start figuring out what to do with all the professionals who have been laid off from 209 tech startups since January. Let's take on a topic where we can actually have some positive impact. That's really what all this is really about. Bringing people together to carve out our better future. We're going to need everyone!
