Empower Your People... Improve Your Safety Culture.

In most cases the people that get injured on the job are the ones doing the job. Seldom do you hear of an executive member of management being injured in a workplace incident.

This is why it is so important for the people doing the work to understand the true impact of a workplace injury. It does not only impact them, but people around them and the company as a whole. Contracts with customers can be lost over poor safety performance.

Once your people understand the "big picture" of a workplace injury, then empower them to prevent incidents from occurring. Prevention is achieved through honest, open communication between management and workers. Safety concerns have to have a high level of importance and be addressed. Many times this can be accomplished by the front line management, if not the people doing the job. It's upper managements job to communicate safety solutions throughout the organization.

When workers FEEL involved they will offer solutions to solve safety issues. After all, they are the ones doing the job and I have never met an employee that wanted to get hurt doing the job. In fact, most want to be a good employee... a "good hand."

My book; "The Good Hand" is a short read that captures all of this in an easy to understand format. Learn more by going to MikeSasser.com.
