EATON employees transformed after 100 days in the Virgin Pulse Global Challenge

On May 23, 42 Eaton employees made a commitment to improve their health and performance. Since then, they’ve increased awareness of how they move, eat and feel. They’ve improved their physical and mental health – and have taken steps towards becoming a more resilient, productive and engaged workforce.

Through goal setting and a sense of healthy competition Eaton’s people achieved an average daily step count of 15,488.

In teams of seven – and supported by a global movement of 300,000 members around the world – Eaton employees embraced team work and clocked up 39,255 km in their virtual journey around the world – on the Global Challenge’s online portal which helps members track their physical activity and unlock new locations as they move around the globe.

Here are more of the key names and numbers that make up Eaton’s collective efforts:

  • · 61,336,310 steps and a step average of 15,488 led to employees losing an average of 2,461,188 calories by the end of the challenge.
  • Scrambled legs (Captain Ludovic Dao) took out the top spot at Eaton BSC Budapest as the company’s most active team, ranking 2905 on Global Challenge’s Leaderboard – no small achievement given that 39,644 teams were in the running. Their daily step average was also impressive, clocking in at 19,663 - equivalent to 12,5 km every day of the 100 day event.

‘My team members were asking me: how can I do all those steps? During the whole challenge I stick to my own strategy. When I’m not doing sport I’m walking a lot, avoiding public transport, walking from the office to the center, walking along the riverside just to reach those steps. I try to swim and to run twice per week. The big jump in steps came from the daily bicycling’, shared his experience Team Captain Ludovic Dao.

  • Unstoppable made some serious changes to their lifestyle and routine, topping the chart as the most improved team in Eaton BSC Budapest. Team Captain Natasa Buneta, shared the secrets of their success, ‘The best what you can do to increase step count is to organize activities together’.

“We are so proud of our employees’ achievements, and will support them in every step of their continued journey towards healthier, happier and more active lives.” said Area manager of GCC Yana Bybina.
