Tell us more about yourself.

I’m a veterinarian and a recognized specialist in Avian Medicine from the European College of Zoological Medicine, currently working at Bird Paradise. Originally from Barcelona, Spain, I moved to the United Kingdom where I worked for 13 years before making my way here to sunny Singapore!

What are some of the challenges you face as an Avian Veterinarian?

My role can be challenging as birds are generally a complicated species to care for and fall ill easily. However, with the right diagnosis and treatment, we can help make the birds feel better in no time!

Taking on these challenges head on and providing the birds with the best welfare possible makes me feel like my daily work is important and impactful towards Mandai Wildlife Group’s conservation efforts.

What’s a day in your life like?

A typical day in my life would start off with planning the procedures required for the inpatients, these range from simple health checks and blood draws to major surgeries.

The move to Bird Paradise was not an easy feat! All the birds needed to be examined and considered fit to be transported before they could be moved to their new home. A lot of work went into analysing past animal histories and providing medical checks for all our birds before the big move.

But I must say that it was all worth it to see them all happy and healthy now!

How is it like working in the new Bird Paradise?

Working in Bird Paradise is truly spectacular as there really is no other place like it. The birds here can be wholesomely admired in their natural habitats while receiving the best care from a great team of vets and keepers.
