Data Resilience Starts with Veeam

Data Resilience Starts with Veeam

In our current cyber landscape where facing an attack at some point is almost a given, it doesn’t really matter who you are or what industry you’re in — we’re all facing a common threat. One driver behind this year’s VeeamON was the concept of data resilience, and this can be applied both within your own organizations’ approach to data protection and within our wider community as well. Read on as we share some of the major insights from VeeamON, including some important Veeam announcements and the release of the 2024 Ransomware Trends Report.

Stay in the Loop: Key Insights from VeeamON 2024

Whether you were able to make it live or not, there was too much great information shared at VeeamON earlier this month for us not to share! The most attended and talked about events are now available on-demand — including some big Veeam announcements, insights from experts, thought leadership from Veeam executives, and tons of demos.

  • The Future of Microsoft 365 Backup: We’ve spoken before about how important it is to stay ahead of the curve. If you’re a Microsoft 365 user, be sure to watch this session by Mike Resseler, senior director of R&D at Veeam, and Bradley Gussin, principal PM manager at Microsoft, as they share our joint vision for the future of backup storage with Microsoft.

  • Bourbon & Beards: A Customer Virtualization Migration Story: One of the most important shifts in data protection is the move to modernize and virtualize the way you safeguard your data. In this fan-favorite session, South Georgia Medical Center (SGMC Health) shares the story of how they protected themselves from being targeted like so many other healthcare organizations by virtualizing with the help of Veeam.

  • Ransomware: What Happens When It Happens?: Unfortunately, these days, it’s no longer a matter of if but when you’ll face a cyberattack. Hoping you don’t get hit is no longer a viable option — but it’s possible to get to a point where you can take whatever comes your way in stride. Check out this session from Coveware CEO, Bill Siegel, as he shares some essential cyberattack intel that can help inform your own data protection strategy.

IT and Security Alignment is Crucial

The 2024 Ransomware Trends Report was also the subject of a keynote session at VeeamON, where we discussed some critical insights that were gleaned from surveying 1,200 organizations like yours who faced a ransomware attack last year. One major finding of this report was that a lack of integration between cybersecurity and backup tools was the #1 reason for misalignment within these organizations. In this same vein, we also found that 63% of organizations surveyed believe that a significant or complete overhaul is needed between their IT and cybersecurity teams. This report is a must-read, as it unveiled additional critical cybersecurity insights like this that could be helpful in formulating your own cutting-edge strategy to protect your business from an attack.

Key findings from this report include deep dives into the scale, breadth, and impact of the attacks these organizations experienced, the importance of organizational alignment during attack preparation and remediation, and the specific technologies that could be helpful to implement both before and during the recovery process after a cyberattack. For a more thorough breakdown of this report’s findings, check out this month’s episode of Industry Insights where Jason Buffington and Ray Heffer go a little more in depth about how important it is for IT and security teams to collaborate, supported by information gleaned from this report.
