🗣️ Our new ISO accreditation for interpreting

Great news from our Dutch team! We earned an accreditation for ISO 21998, a standard that focuses on improving healthcare interpreting services setting higher benchmarks for interpreter training and professional development.

Especially benefiting our Acolad Academy, this achievement ensures effective communication between healthcare providers and patients, breaking down language and cultural barriers. We’re proud to raise the bar in healthcare interpreting!

👥The future of generative AI

We’ve traveled from The Netherlands to Belgium and we’ve now landed in our Boulogne headquarters to host a session dedicated to Gen-AI!

Our guest speakers  Sandra Lukijanec from Lacoste, Billy Oriental from LinkedIn and Amaury GUINOT from SnapLogic, discussed how Gen-AI is shaping our industry, with many of our clients among the attendees like BNP Paribas, Renault, Nissan Motor Corporation, Groupe Crédit Agricole, LVMH, and Pernod Ricard

With very interesting discussions about the future of AI, we got a chance to showcase our practical demos of AI Voice-over for eLearning and content generation.

Although the key insights were incredibly interesting and we had the chance to get many different perspectives from varying industries, we could all agree the wine and cheese tasting was everyone’s favorite!

🎤 GALA Valencia: Careers, Interpreting and the usual suspect

Our team met in Valencia for this year’s edition of GALA!

Our day one highlight was Nancy Hähnel 's amazing presentation on "The Battle for Talent: Career, Life & Choices That Matter".

Our General Manager for the Netherlands captivated the audience with a compelling talk on how to find a balance between career aspirations, personal life, and finding purpose in the language industry.

@Giulia Silvestrini was our star for day two! Our Head of Interpreting moderated the SIG Unconference, where we discusses interpreting practices and workflows.

And to no one’s surprise, the biggest topic of the conference was AI! Over the two days, we listened in and participated in a very insightful conversation on how AI is transforming localization by cutting down on manual tasks, enhancing translation quality, and personalizing content like never before.

🕙 The 3-Hour Word Marathon

We hope this edition of our newsletter wasn’t too time-consuming. But we sure know what is!

Introducing you to the longest word in the English language, drumroll please 🥁 Tintin!

Ok we know that doesn’t sound that long but it definitely is, let us explain.

“Tintin” is the abbreviation of the longest English word, which is the chemical name for the largest known protein. The actual word has 189, 819 letters, taking several hours to pronounce. But why is it so long? Because when you’re naming a protein, you need to include the name of all the atoms that make it up. But no one has several hours to pronounce it, so they just called it Titin [TIE-tin].

And after the longest word in the English Language…

We sure don’t have many left to say.

Are you looking to learn something specific or have questions for us to cover in the next edition? Let us know in the comments and we’ll do our best to cover them in the next edition of Content Matters.
