The Collegiate DECA International Career & Development Conference was held April 19-24, 2024 in Austin, Texas. The conference had over 1200 participants representing 200 colleges and universities across 30 states, England, and Puerto Rico.
The Wisconsin Technical Colleges and the University of Wisconsin Campuses attend this action-packed professional conference and compete in testing, prepared events, case studies, and sales institutes.
The conference kicked off with a dynamic and high-energy keynote with Eddie Slowikowski He is a Gold Medal Winner for the USA Track and Field team, a three-time NCAA All-American, and an expert in peak performance. He is also fast, like really fast. He is one of a few who ran the mile in under four minutes! Three minutes and 58 seconds to be exact! He shared the principles of his Four Minute Formula. He challenged us to live with inspiration and ultimately discover the power within to experience our best life.
Students attended professional development sessions on various business topics and networked with their peers. One of our attendees commented: “Safe to say that it was one of the most meaningful experiences in my academic career. I enjoyed getting to know so many people from around the world and gain professional experience that I will use for the rest of my life.”
The final two days were focused on competing in case studies and/or prepared events with preliminaries on the first day and the final competition the next day. Everyone spent their free time preparing for the competition and enjoying the attractions, shops, and restaurants in Austin.

Collegiate DECA Overview
Collegiate DECA is an internationally recognized organization for college students preparing for business careers. DECA programs engage students from a variety of educational disciplines while maintaining a strong focus on business-related areas such as Marketing, Management, Human Resources, and Entrepreneurship. Activities promoted by Collegiate DECA integrate critical life skills and enhance the student’s college experience through applied learning.

The chapter members thank the Student Government Association and Waukesha County Technical College for their continued funding and support. We’d also like to thank everyone for participating in our fundraisers and the staff at DECA Inc. for a great conference.

The WI Collegiate DECA organization weathered a pandemic that closed the colleges, canceled our events, stifled chapter fundraising, drastically affected membership, and depleted the organization's reserves. As our chapters continue to rebuild please consider a donation.

They worked hard fundraising, preparing for their events, and supporting each other when the pressure to perform was on! It is so much fun working with Ann Mack! We have a front-row seat watching the students' confidence grow and their skill sets expand with every one of these opportunities. Congratulations to the chapter!
