Building Automation: Slicing the pie...

It's Summer!

Building automation: Every piece of equipment works as a heart or brain. Similar to the giant Pacific octopus which has three hearts, nine brains.

  • Heart-1: Chiller
  • Heart-2: Boiler
  • Heart-3: For now let's assume this as 'X' ;)

As we are in summer Let's talk more about Chiller.

Chiller does not like summer, But summer likes chiller.

Below are some of the problems that could occur during summer.

Airflow: Front yard grass starts to turn greener which is good. She said, "THE GRASS IS (ALWAYS) GREENER" (ON THE OTHER SIDE). This is what exactly happens with the HVAC system. A dirty filter causes low airflow which leads to ineffective cooling.

Waterflow: As weather transitions from winter to summer the cooling coil discharge air temperature may not have a significant drop in temperature. The chillers are operating efficiently. Especially if the system is open to domestic water or rain harvest systems. It is necessary to clean the strainers often.
