Automotive Women's Alliance @ Martinrea Technical Center in Auburn Hills, MI for a Mentor/Mentee Mixer!

(AUBURN HILLS, MICHIGAN) -- The AWAF Mentor/Mentee Mixer evening was charged with plenty of excitement and interest. Martinrea’s Executive Vice President, Procurement and Supply Chain Operations, Megan Hunter, started the evening off as our Keynote Speaker. Megan introduced Martinrea, its history, and the Martinrea women who filled the room with the support of the AWAF organization and its mission to encourage the growth of women in automotive.

Our Board Member and Scholarship Chair, Jane Bishop, shared a wealth of information about AWAF, its goals, and its mission. In addition, Jane provided knowledge of the many focused programs actively working to meet those goals. Jane, with her infectious smile and wealth of experience, drew the audience in and created an environment for engaging dialogue in small groups.

A delicious pasta dinner provided by Olive Garden and coordinated by Venetia Petteway was enjoyed by everyone. The program continued with our AWAF Scholarship Recipients and Mentees sharing individual stories and experiences.  Candace Ulett, a current AWAF Mentee and Kettering University graduate, provided information about her migration to the US from Jamaica, her challenges, struggles, and successes along the way. Venetia asked Candace to talk about the foundation she established in 2019. It was truly an inspirational story.

AWAF Board Members, Mentors, and Mentees felt the energy and support from the Martinrea team. Thanks to Deanna Lorincz, Global Director, Communications and Marketing, Megan Hunter, and all who helped create the opportunity for success of the AWAF Mentor/Mentee Mixer Event.

We look forward to many more Mentor/Mentee Mixers in the AWAF future!
