Am I lazy or should I really write? Let's figure it out together😎 #WebSummit2022

What a dynamic world we live in. It took me more than a week to write just a post, in this case, it looks like the whole article 😊 Was I busy or maybe lazy? Who knows)

Anyway, I’ve already watched the new episodes of “The Crown” and spent an enormous amount of time googling Princess Diana's story behind.

You may name it as procrastination) So am I

Still, as the main mine insight of Web Summit is - Ira you’re pretty smart & well educated in your domain (yeah, I’m a kinda self-confident person😊), however, you’re always busy - it looks like Teams & Outlook control you somehow so you can’t find time for that is really matters and drives you a lot. And now here I am - I am writing this text to share with you my thoughts and insights to be more visible and build a kind of personal brand. I do know that I have one, and even so, I wanna flourish it, so to speak)

Web Summit 2022

The pandemic hit the conference in previous years, but now Web Summit is back & it’s impressive. This huge platform allows people from around the world to meet each other and interact. I had a chance to get acquainted with diligent & talented people from Brazil, Netherlands, Malta, Italy, Poland, and many others (this list I can continue due to my, I would say, pretty high networking skills). It’s worth mentioning that I met my old Ukrainian friends & quite a big Ukrainian Community and it definitely means a lack of sleeping hours🤪

So, it was my second Web Summit & I may say that this year I even got FOMO syndrome due to the pretty tough agenda (a lot of booths, interesting people, awesome project) and my personal network/plans to meet everyone.

To structure my thoughts) I definitely should do it right now, so I divided them into next streams:

🇺🇦Ukraine

Ukraine was spotlighted during the event at all levels and days. First of all, a secret guest the First Lady of Ukraine on the main stage at the Opening Night ceremony, Ukrainian Pavilion “Ukrainian Tech Ecosystem – The Capital Of Freedom,” Mykhailo Fedorov Minister of Digital Transformation speech, 70 Ukrainian startups & companies (SoftServe was one of them) a lot of panels, sessions, and discussions on the topic of Ukraine. That’s huge! And I am proud to be Ukrainian and be part of the Community.

💙SoftServe

Just an incredible SoftServe stand that showcased our demos. You as a participant could predict your future in Metaverse, solve a Magic Box challenge, get to know more about the company and values, and definitely touch the Future. More details are here

Trends overall

🏦FinTech

I would say that during Web Summit there was a lot of buzz around cryptocurrencies, Web3 (totally new info for me, so I even have to google it to dive deeper), and DeFi (Decentralised Finance). This year definitely showed more crypto enthusiasts and people with a basic understanding of crypto-technology.

😎Metaverse

As for me Metaverse still looks like a just-born concept even in the early stages. What was discussed during the event was that the idea of Metaverse is really cool, but a monopolizing attitude of Facebook may cause failure.

However, a lot of companies are interested in that, for example, the Lego Group is developing a safe Metaverse for kids.

📲Ambient intelligence

It was also interesting to hear the session with Amazon's senior VP and head scientist Rohit Prasad cause there was a lot about Ambient intelligence. How the sensors and processors will be embedded into our everyday devices and the environment will adapt to our’s needs and desire.

So, Alexa the most recognizable AI virtual assistant in the world will integrate its behavior patterns into our’s life with the help of Emotion recognition & that is just wow!

🌱Healthcare, Sustainability, Green Energy, and Ecology were kinda mainstream. There was a lot of discussion around that topic.

And definitely, I can’t miss the OnlyFans case, how they are struggling with Brand perception.

One more remarkable session was about how Formula 1 is using cutting-edge technology.

I may say that it was one of the most anticipated Web Summit talks this year, largely because of Toto Wolff, the Mercedes F1 Team principal.

Toto shared with the audience that his team uses TeamViewer technology to share real-time analytics and augmented reality with his engineering team during races a lot.

To be honest, I don’t know if you are still reading this article (it’s become a bit too long) however I should definitely recommend you to pay attention to the startups cause the startup world today isn’t about speculative business plans, but about creating safe and useful products, for sure.

And finally don’t miss a chance to meet fantastic people from around the world during the side-events, Night Web Summit which was one of the best networking opportunities.

See you there next year🚀
