Aging reimagined: Key takeaways from Longevity Summit Dublin

Dominika Wilczok reports on the latest aging research and innovative healthspan strategies discussed at this year’s Longevity Summit Dublin.

A quick calculation (four full days of talking about longevity from 8:30am to at least 6pm) shows that Longevity Summit Dublin clocked in at over 30 professional hours of keynotes and networking. The summit was packed with attendees forging connections and hatching plans to drive the longevity field forward and Martin O’Dea, CEO of Longevity Summit Dublin and leading geroscientist Aubrey de Grey, were omnipresent, ensuring that everyone felt like they belonged.

My take on this: The event featured numerous top-tier speakers and captivating presentations, making it impossible to cover everything. However, here’s a glimpse of the incredible experience.

Day 1:

The Longevity Summit Dublin 2024 began with discussions on how AI can democratize and accelerate longevity therapeutics. Key speakers included John Sheehan, Dr Michael Suk, Jasmine Smith, Kennedy Schaal, Sally Ann Frank, Tom Lawry and Shavini Fernando.

The focus then shifted to the micro level, exploring lipids and protein damage in aging. Highlights included CEO Reason from Repair Biotechnologies discussing cholesterol's role in aging and Matthew ‘Oki’ O’Connor presenting Cyclarity’s approach to targeting oxidized cholesterol.

Revel Pharmaceuticals updated on their phase 1 drug trial, and Yuvan Research showcased their 'young plasma' rejuvenating strategy. The day concluded with talks on the aging rate, genetic testing, and stem cell regeneration, featuring Wacław Kroczek, Ben Meyers, and Natalie Coles.

Day 2:

The second day covered funding and entrepreneurship in the longevity industry, with insights from Francesca Ranieri, Michael Ringel, Sebastian Brunemeier and Todd White. Strategies to combat senescent cells were discussed by Alexander Fedintsev and Lynne Cox.

Peter Diamandis and Manuel Serrano highlighted interventions in cellular reprogramming. Alejandro Ocampo discussed epigenetic dysregulation, while Evan Snyder focused on neurons and neuroinflammation.

Alessandro Maggi presented on intraspinal probe fabrication for neural stimulation. Catlin Lewis shared findings on 'robust mice rejuvenation' interventions, and Patrizia d’Alessio covered natural molecules for reversing cell senescence.
