ABM Helps Parks & Recreation Authority Protect and Develop Economic Impact for County Communities

ABM (NYSE: ABM), a leading provider of facility services, infrastructure and eMobility solutions announced the initiation of an Energy Performance Contracting program for Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Authority (“MCCPRA”), in Georgia. Creating projected energy and operations savings exceeding $1 million over 20 years with lighting technology and HVAC upgrades, the project improves sports and park facilities that currently generate approximately $11 million dollars of economic impact for the communities served by MCCPRA, according to a recent impact analysis.

“Reducing energy cost with new LED lighting creates savings and frees up funds, but there’s another fiscal win to highlight here,” said Mark Hawkinson, President of ABM Technical Solutions. “Our project helps the recreation authority host more events that draw in revenue for local businesses and the communities MCCPRA serves.”

In addition to energy savings and operational cost reductions from improved lighting, HVAC, and building envelope improvements, upgraded controls will enable remote management of facility assets and provide safer, more reliable lighting for athletes, spectators and community members, including one of only three pools capable of hosting Olympic-competition-level diving in the state of Georgia.

ABM’s Energy Performance Contracting Program enables local governments and others, such as schools and federal agencies, to invest in critical facility needs like air quality, infrastructure, and sustainability goals. The program is designed to drive costs out of a facility’s operating budget, redirecting savings to fund mission critical facility needs. MCCPRA manages multiple parks, recreation and sports complexes in Colquitt County. Providing programs for all ages, MCCPRA serves the 45,000 residents of Colquitt County, and the county seat, Moultrie, by directing the operation and improvement of multiple parks, recreation and sports complexes, including the Moose Moss Diving Facility and the A.F. Shaw Gymnasium.
