Today, a diagnosis of gestational diabetes often leads to a predetermined path: induced birth or c-section. However, here's the twist—there's no solid evidence supporting the necessity of induction for women with gestational diabetes. The World Health Organization (WHO) even advises against it unless other complications arise. Yet, the pressure is palpable. Doctors critique I'll harm my baby if I don't follow their plan. Others criticize if I stick to the diet, worried my baby will starving and won't develop well. It's a rollercoaster of paternalistic treatment, feeling like I'm being told what to do without a say in the matter. So this International Women's Day, I have a simple wish: Three Things We Stand For at ZenZen Diabetes Support 1.Evidence-Based Decision Making: Despite the norm of inducing birth for gestational diabetes, solid evidence is scarce. At ZenZen, we advocate for informed decisions based on clear and honest information. 2. Having Power to Choose:: Every woman deserves the right to choose how she gives birth and manages her pregnancy. We believe in providing women with the autonomy to decide what's best for them. 3.Respectful Value Based Care: Women with gestational diabetes - like all other women - deserve respect and trust in their understanding of their health. ZenZen stands for respectful and empowering care for every pregnancy journey. Let's stand together to advocate for women's autonomy over their bodies, and their pregnancies. Share your stories, raise awareness, and let's make sure every woman has the right to make informed decisions about her body and her baby. Happy International Women's Day!
