I am a father to 4 great kids, a grandfather to four crazy kids, and a husband to someone I don’t deserve. I strive to be the best version of myself every day and uplift others because that’s why I was placed here.
🏃 Yesterday in training, we delved into the remarkable achievement of Sir Roger Bannister, who broke the elusive 4 minute mile barrier in 1954. His feat not only redefined human boundaries but also serves as a powerful reminder that there is often so much more within our reach than initially perceived. 🌟 Bannister's pursuit of the 4 minute mile was not just about physical endurance, but also a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the indomitable will to surpass our own limitations. It demonstrated that our biggest obstacles are frequently mental, rather than physical. 🧠💪 In a professional context, Bannister's story encourages us to challenge boundaries, push beyond our comfort zones, and strive for greatness. It inspires us to question what might be possible if we dare to dream bigger and work harder. 🔥 #LimitlessPossibilities #DefyingBoundaries #UnleashingPotential Let us remember that Bannister's accomplishment was not just about breaking records, but about inspiring generations to shatter their own barriers. It reminds us that true success often lies in challenging the status quo, thinking outside the box, and seeking uncharted territories. 🚀 As we embark on our own endeavors, whether personal or professional, let Bannister's pioneering spirit guide us towards fresh perspectives and ambitious goals. 💫 Let's break our own 4 minute mile, whatever that may be! 🏁 #PushingBoundaries #Trailblazers #AchieveTheImpossible

What if we lived life like we were all in a cross country meet? What if we watched other people and recognized that we're all just trying to get across the finish line? What if we understood that some people are running as hard as they can but battling illnesses, invisible injuries, and internal struggles? Every step is hard, but they're trying not to quit. What if we cheered for everyone even if they weren't on our team? What if we realized just finishing something, no matter how long it took us or how messy it seemed, was enough? In fact, it was a win. What if we used every race as an opportunity to learn more about ourselves and how we could use each other for support, inspiration, and help to reach our goals? What if we cheered loud for the winner, but even louder for the one who comes in after because they accomplished something great, too?In a world that tells us it's about me, me, me, what if we started living to support everyone brave enough to be in the race? What if we started treating our lives like we were all in the same cross country meet? What a beautiful world that would be.

#MondayMusings Today my heart is with The Triers - the ones who, despite having a hundred good reasons not to get out of bed, will find one and the courage required to get up anyway - to show up. The ones who, day in and day out, step up to the rock of Adversity and push, knowing that some days it's just not going to move, some days its movement will be imperceptible to everyone but themselves, and some days it's likely to slide back a little (or a lot!). And yet, The Triers continue to push, without the need or desire for recognition, believing, confident, hopeful that if they push long and hard enough it WILL move in a positive, permanent, life-sustaining, and life-affirming direction. It’s a task that takes immeasurable courage, resilience, and perseverance, but one that, in the end, is worth the sacrifices and the commitment. I think Kid President said it best in his "Letter to a Person on Their First Day Here," which I urge you to listen to (on YouTube) if you never have: “Being a person is hard sometimes. We should give people high fives just for getting out of bed!" Trust me, The Triers in the world would appreciate – and are most deserving of - one of those once in a while! #CompassionateProfessionalism #EndTheStigma #ChangeTheDialogue #ALawyersLife #SometimesCourageIsAnEmptyBed #LifeIsATeamSport #FightOn

Response to a post espousing the wisdom of intentionally not having a Plan B. No Plan B? Valid advice? Or reckless guidance? Same goes for people saying you should “burn your boats”. These are things you do when there are no other options. A Plan B can be many things. Most of all, it’s the possibility to survive and regroup. It might be having enough in a savings account or keeping good relations with a former employer … something that helps minimize real risk to you and people important to you. Having a Plan B and thinking of it as an “escape hatch” that results in less then 100% effort? Those are issues of discipline, focus, and effort. Solid contingency planning matters.
