Autism Awareness Month is special to me for many reasons! Having a child with Autism has many unique, frequent, and heartbreaking challenges. One of them for my family is travel on airplanes. Here are a few reasons why: -Distracting other passengers (sounds and movement) -Quick to motion sickness -Getting dirty looks -Limited verbal communication -Foreign environment is extremely stressful for child and parents -lines and standing seating for long period of time -Safety issues if he runs randomly It is a large production for many families to build the desire to get on a plane with their child with autism. Luckily an amazing program started through Autism Speaks and Breeze Airways™ are taking large steps towards autism integration and inclusion. Autism Flies allows a special day for kids on the spectrum to take their time to board a plane with limited passengers and distractions. Then without actually flying anywhere they allow parents to let their child experience boarding, eating snacks, putting their seatbelt on, etc. The crew will answer questions and help them familiarize themself with flying and have a positive experiences. This is the amazing combination of business and charitable organizations coming together to do good. This inspires me to do more than drive profits and growth. I can also be a force for good if I'm willing to put others first and put in the effort to see a good cause through. #autism #inclusion #autismawareness
